What I think has really helped is that I've loosened my mask a LOT. You'd almost think it was too loose. I'm not finding that I'm waking up with the kind of pain I had before. I guess I didn't realize that you really could have the thing as loose as I have it and still have it work.

Although, I guess I should wait and get some kind of results on whether it actually is helping before I say that. I hope I'm not having leaks or high AHIs by having it this loose.

Ok, I'm unclear on how I can check the data myself. How are y'all doing that? Do I need to have a reader for the datacard?

Dotty,

I have been using the same machine that you have, at least up until about a week ago. You can see your AHI and leak numbers on the display screen without using a card reader. Those are average numbers, so you have to reset them before you go to bed in order to get a one day reading. I don't recall how to clear it. You should be able to download both the user manual and the clinical manual for the machine, and that will give you the magic key sequences.

If you want to get more detail, you can pick up a card reader and software. I bought them in a bundle from one of the on-line vendors for just over $100. That is helpful for getting thing fine tuned, but once you get dialed in, all you are likely to need is a spot check of the AHI once in a while.

John, if the machine in Dotty's signature is right, then she will have no data on the LCD/screen... she'll need the software and reader.

Darn.

As I told someone this afternoon, I need more frequent feedback on how I'm doing than what both my DME and Idiot Doctor seem to want to give me. So, I hope I can figure out a way to do that. I told Idiot Doctor that I make changes every day to my treatment - sleeping in a different position, tweaking my mask somehow, experimenting with eating dinner at a different time or different foods, etc. All of these changes make a difference in my sleep patterns, so I need to see what each thing I do does to my sleep that night. Not surprisingly, ID said getting daily feedback like that isn't possible and is unheard of - why would I want to know that much information?

Hi,

I have the same machine that is in Dotty's signature, and my machine gives me AHI and leak information. From the main menu, hit the left arrow 3 times. Are there different versions of this machine that don't give that info? Or did you see a machine that had the data screens locked out?

dotty is showing she has the legacy series machine (tank) - john is showing the m series machine

the only data on legacy series machines is via the card (for those with data that is)

If there was something to congratulate you on, not saying there is, I would most certainly congratulate you for doing something that I am sure you haven't done, because if you had then something good might of happened and we would all be very excited for you. But that's all just speculation of course.
