Sore nose problem

Post by gregnga » Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:39 pm

I have a Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow mask which I really like. However, sometimes it makes the bridge of my nose sore and I have to take it off in the middle of the night. It seems that if I pull the straps tight so it seals well, then it makes my nose sore but if I l wear it looser so it doesn't hurt my nose, then I have to deal with the hissing of the air escaping. Should I try another mask or is there something I can do

Sounds like the pillows are too small......Just my gut feeling on first read....

I used a headrest for about a year and was using the large pillows and had some leak issues unless it was cranked down -- if you have to crank down a mask there's something wrong!!!!!!!!!! Guaranteed!!!
I switched to the XL pillows and my leak issues went away -- I also could keep the mask much more loose.

You might try some "Mack's" silicone earplugs. You take a small pinch of one of the plugs and roll it out until it's a really small snake, then put it around the pillow where your nares hit the pillow -- that will create a good seal because the silicone earplug material is really sticky....PIA to clean off, but works well.....

good luck

Indeed ... I had the medium pillow originally, I upgraded to the large size (about 10 days ago) and all my sore nose issues disappeared.

I'm using the swift II nasal pillow system.
