S9 internal memory...?

I have four questions:

Does the Resmed S9 come with internal memory?
If I format the SD card, would I loss all the data from the entire machine?
Can I check the number of hours the machine has operate? and
can I reset the machine to the default factory setting?

1. Yes it has some memory storage on the machine. It will store Summary data... you can find that info at the ResMed site for the S9 and look for the Data Management Guide.pdf
2. When you format the card... you only lose the data on the card. ResScan on your computer has your Detailed data and High Res data if you saved it there.
3. Your total hours is part of your Summary info.
4. There is a default factory setting in ResScan that will revert all you machine settings when you put the SD card back in your S9. It is found in you menu items under Settings...

Keep reading here and you will have no choice but to learn... There are many people here with S9's that can help.

Thanks Nord for the quick answers.

When I pick up my machine from the clinic, it will have the prescribed settings for me. I would understand that the setting will retain when I put the SD card back, not revert to the factory setting.

Or, the custom settings are stored on the SD card. Not on the internal memory?

If I get a second handed/used S9, would I know?

The Machine changes its setting after the Settings have been changed in the ResScan software and the card is re-inserted into the S9.

I'm sure the RT will go over all the settings that will have and then because you'll get to know "the secret handshake" and will want the software... you can then make "custom settings" if you want. If you hand over the SD card to your RT or DME then they could make changes that change your S9 when you re-install it. But by then you will have a better handle on what they are doing and what you want.

S9's have only been available for a month so it would be unlikely that they would have one. If you check the hours on Summary readouts it will tell you the hours, but of course visual is really the only way. If you're unsure about what they are telling you... maybe you're dealing with the wrong supplier.

Yes, we are all new to the S9, and learning as we go. It will take some time, but I suggest doing a search for all S9 threads, and read as much as you can. There isn't any guidebook for this journey, we're writing it as we go.

Yes. It stores data internally for varying periods of time, depending on the type of data. Basically, detailed data is held for several days, summary data is held for up to a year and usage data is held premanently.

No. The SD card is just carrier of data between the S9 and a PC with ResScan software installed. One the PC you can keep data as long as you like... I have several years of nightly detailed data saved on my PC through ResScan.

Every time you put the SD card in your S9, all the data available from the S9 is downloaded onto the SD Card and all previous data on the SD card is over-written.

Actual operating hours usage is available one the S9 display. For a variety of reason the operating hours usage display on the S9 (which basically shows motor hours), may be slightly different from the hours used by the patient display of usage in ResScan.

In respect of your "resetting to factory" question.... if it is about whether there is a single setting that will do that for absolutely everything on the S9, the answer is no.

For a variety of reasons that could be a very dangerous thing to do from a Clinical quality and safety point of view.

However, you can certainly reset most settings to a default value.

I was just a little curious how 'permanent' the data on the machine itself. I guess we can't wipe the machine clean to the original state and start over. Sounds good to me.

btw, go my machine after I post the previous questions. Have a good trial run last night. The result is good.

Seems as though the S9 has more memory on board than what I thought...

Bill Bolton reported that memory on board the machine is sufficient to store at least a number of Detailed Days. This morning when I lost some data on my SD card (not sure why yet) I looked inside the Datalog folder and found very few files for that day and No Detailed or Hi Res Info in ResScan for that day. I had 8 days of HiRes Data stored on the card so I deleted all the Data except the last 2 days and I put the card back into the S9 for 1 minute and then tried it again on the computer.... no change. Turned on the S9 to Therapy with SD card inside, again for 1 minute - still no info for ResScan.

Laid down for and hour with SD card inside the S9 and then inserted into ResScan - I got all the Detailed info and HiRes info for the complete night earlier . The Memory on the S9 copied over the SD card and re-installed all my data for the latest day. It did not copy more that the last 2 days of HiRes data. In other words there is more memory on the machine than what I thought but not enough for 7 days of HiRes... I think.

That would suggest there is enough memory for some days of Summary; Some Detailed Session and Some HiRes Sessions. We might be able to run w/o card and Install it later to collect complete data... although I haven't tried that.

The fact that the Machine overwrites the card each time would explain why it doesn't matter how large the card is... its the Limits of the S9 memory.

Help! I can't get mine to do this. I've been looking all over the web, trying to find out how to copy the data from the machine to the SD card.
Two days ago, I send the original SD card off to the clinic for the 30 day insurance compliance verification. I had not yet saved or looked at the data on my P/C.
I put a new card in the S9, thinking that it would copy the S9 data as you said, but when I looked at the data the next day, it only contained the data for the 31st day. Today, it had the 31st and 32nd day in the DataLog folder. I thought that perhaps I did something wrong, so I deleted all the folders and files from the card, and reinserted it. As it stands now, the DataLog is empty, it didn't capture the S9 data.

I've looked in the clinical guide manual, but can't find anything about a setting to make the copy happen.

How do I make this work?
