Is the C222 a lead acid type? The PPS130 is a LiIon. Big weight difference between these chemistries.BleepingBeauty wrote:FYI and FWIW, the webpage says that this PPS130 battery weighs just 2.4 lbs. (My C-222 12V battery weighs about 4.5 lbs.)timbalionguy wrote: The 24 volt battery is a good idea, especially if you have to use an inverter. the higher the input voltage to an inverter (that is designed for the higher input voltage!), the better the system will work. Even if you have to use a DC-DC converter to get a regulated 24 volts, 24 volts in will make it work more efficiently. Keep in mind though, from a watts-per-pound perspective, a 24 volt battery will weigh as much as a comparable 12 volt battery (of the same chemistry) capable of supplying the same number of watt-hours of power.

Nope, it's Lithium Ion as well:timbalionguy wrote:... Is the C222 a lead acid type? ...

Re: BiPAP ASV - Backup Power Question
Now knowing the capacity of the two batteries, the 222 has almost twice the capacity. That is why it is heavier.
I wonder if the top voltage range on the PPS130 could be modified to 30 volts. Then the folks with the VPAP Adapt SV could have a practical battery.

Hey, BB, did you ever find anything out about these batteries? Hurricane season is getting closer....BleepingBeauty wrote: But here's the (potential) great news:
Sean (the guy I've spoken with whenever I've called them) said that they're now manufacturing xpap batteries for ResMed VPAP machines in Europe, and those machines are 24V (like the ASV). So he's going to do a little research on whether that battery will also operate our ASV machines here and said he'll do his best to get back to me on that today. He'll see if they can "special order" one of those batteries for me (with the right power plug for the U.S.). When I inquired about the price difference between the battery I have and the one he's talking about, he said I could exchange my battery for the new one, with no additional cost. (I'm loving this company for their customer service.)
If he finds that this "European" battery will do the trick for us here, I'll ask about the price so I can tell you what it would cost to purchase one outright. I'll post an update after I hear back from him.

Re: BiPAP ASV - Backup Power Question
The one they've recommended for the ASV machines is the SPPS200 (http://www.batterygeek.net/ProductDetai ... ATTERYGEEK). When I spoke with them again recently, their best estimate is that this battery would give me double the run time of my current battery (with no inverter needed), and they went so far as to guarantee that this one would give me at least eight hours from the ASV with my pressure range of 10-20cms.Kiralynx wrote:Hey, BB, did you ever find anything out about these batteries? I am considering it, because I'm finally getting very effective therapy with the ASV and am not happy about the thought of having to use my APAP ever again. Now that I know what good, restorative sleep feels like, I don't want to go backwards! But the battery costs more than I paid for the ASV! I'd have to sell my current battery to justify buying another one, so I'm thinking about it. I should just make do with my current battery and the APAP, but...
Bottom line: Don't wait for me to make a decision about this before you set yourself up with backup power. Summer is coming...

I can't say I blame you for not wanting to go backwards, that's for sure! I think I'm going to have to get the DC connector first, then the battery. I really don't want to be without emergency power in hurricane season. Be nice if I could get at least two nights off that thing.
Wonder if it can be recharged with a solar panel, and what size I'd need?

Re: BiPAP ASV - Backup Power Question
I haven't posted any recent graphs yet because they look good, and I don't really have any questions about the data. But I could post a few, just so others can see how much better my current treatment is.Kiralynx wrote: I can't say I blame you for not wanting to go backwards, that's for sure! Can't help wishing my ex-doc's office was still following my posts here, so they'd know how wrong they were about my treatment needs. (Not that they'd actually listen to their current patients as a result; just wishful thinking on my part. )
I can't help you on the solar panel question, but do keep the rest of us posted on what you decide to try and how well it works for you.I think I'm going to have to get the DC connector first, then the battery. Re: BiPAP ASV - Backup Power Question
I emailed a company asking for recommendations and this is what they told me (I use an Auto SV also):Kiralynx wrote:Wonder if it can be recharged with a solar panel, and what size I'd need?
They can also recommend a solar charger. I had their specific recommendation in a different email, but I can't find that one right now. You could email them to get one.For a charger, I would recommend this one with the IQ4 http://store.solar-electric.com/ioen12vo15am.html
For the battery I would recommend something like this http://store.solar-electric.com/pvx-1295.html - a slight bit undersized, but the next standard size up is overkill.
Best wishes,
Tony

South Africa Steps Up Efforts Against AIDS
SOVANE, South Africa — South Africa, trying to overcome years of denial and delay in confronting its monumental AIDS crisis, is now in the midst of a feverish buildup of testing, treatment and prevention that United Nations officials say is the largest and fastest expansion of AIDS services ever attempted by any nation.

Israel Holds Hundreds Seized During Raid on Flotilla
JERUSALEM — A day after Israeli commandoes raided an aid flotilla seeking to breach the blockade of Gaza, Israel held hundreds of activists seized aboard the convoy on Tuesday as news reports said activists may be planning a fresh attempt to ferry supplies to the Hamas-run enclave.
At the same time, the Israeli military said troops clashed with two militants who infiltrated from Gaza, killing them both. While such occurrences are almost routine along the volatile border between Israel and Gaza, the incident underscored the tensions seizing the region after Monday’s confrontation at sea, which strained relations between Israel and the United States just as American-sponsored proximity talks involving Palestinians and Israelis were getting under way.
The developments in Israel and Gaza came hours after the United Nations Security Council condemned “acts” leading to the loss of life in Israel’s operation in international waters on Monday that claimed the lives of nine civilians, many of them Turks. In response, Turkey, once seen as Israel’s most important friend in the Muslim world, recalled its ambassador and canceled planned military exercises with Israel as the countries’ already tense relations soured even further. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel was flying home after canceling a Tuesday meeting with President Obama.
