Yup. Don't disagree. Sounds as if Komodo went through a sleep study to titrate for a Bi-Level machine. But we shall see. For example, the sleep specialist might find something on the sleep study that indicates a Bi-Level machine is not needed. As Rooster notes, we need to address Wrong Mask, Wrong Machine and Wrong Settings. That's what that sleep study should help determine.LinkC wrote:... But my advice to the OP stands. Those are pretty much my thoughts as well John.JohnBFisher wrote: in your shoes I would look for a unit that provided Bi-Level pressure and also provided auto-titration. That way you get only the pressure you need to keep your airway open. Four different machines fit that bill include:
I also can highly recommend ResMed units and we have several people here to swear by (rather than AT ) their VPAP Auto 25 units.
- Respironics PR System One REMstar BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex
- ResMed S8 VPAP Auto 25:
- DeVilbiss IntelliPAP BiLevel Machine with Heated Humidifier
- Puritan Bennett Sandman Duo BiLevel CPAP Machine with Built In Heated Humidifier
I also highly recommend you purchase software and card readers / cables to read the efficacy data from your new units. Since you've shown a tendency to have problems with sleep, it is very important to keep a reign on all those factors that impact your sleep. (Leak rate, apneas, hypopneas, etc.) Your insurance won't pay for that, but the benefit far outweighs the costs.
Hope that helps, as you start your conversations with your DME.
My sleep center uses Respironic machines and they're way too loud for me. I'm happy with my Resmed Elite 2, and plan on getting the S8 Vpap Auto 25. In part, because I already have the software & reader for it.
You are 100% RIGHT when you say it's important to have the software, I couldn't agree more!!!!!! It's because I got the software, that I discovered, I wasn't getting the full benefit of therapy from my Cpap. I printed out several reports, and had to POINT OUT where my problems occured to my doc! Actually, it was a combonation of my daily log (from the LED screen) & the software. I spotted the "trends" in the log, then looked into the detailed reports. It was quite the "eye opener"!
