Help, I NEED HELP, AND ANSWERS :(

Post by nursedeborah » Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:38 pm

I , have not been here for awhile as I am batteling with such a case of depression.
I can't get the new mask to stop making this awfully loud noise, went back to my
old one, and now it's doing it too!

I had the straps really tight so I let them out a bit, and the old mask made the same noise last night!

I do have to go for a Thyroid Pannnel, as I am not getting any better. Also have to see the Neuro for
Narcolepsey?????

All of this is just making me scared, and I am so worried about have a stroke/heart attack.

I feel so tired I just can't function again, this is awful, but I must wear it, and want to I just
want it to work right!

Also why is my humidifyer using so much water ever night all of a sudden? I have to fill it
up daily as there is usually only about 1/4 left in the am???!!!!!!

Need some answers, and help please, don't feel like anyone in my life cares or will help!

Debbie

Turn down humidifier to about 2. Try to make a gasket out of an old t-shirt . Cut shape of mask leave triangle shape cut out inside for air of course. It 'might' help it seal. Try before too tired.

Deborah, try this: When you put your mask on, try putting it on very loose, then lie down, turn on your cpap, and then re-adjust it, but slowly, tightening just a little at a time, until the leaks stop. Re-read the instructions that came with your mask, or go to their website, some of the mask makers have a video on how to adjust your mask. Or, do a search on this forum, under the name of your mask, and see if others have had similar problems.

If none of that works, call your DME in the morning, and request a different mask.

Using more water in your humidifier might mean that there are more leaks or mouth breathing going on than before. Decreasing the leaks might help with that. Or, turn your humidifier down just a little, so you don't run out of water.

I'm sorry that you're having such a difficult time. We don't know you, but any fellow cpaper is a friend here, and we certainly care.

I hope things look better tomorrow.

Hi everyone,
Sorrry I havn't been around, just was having such a hard time I didn't
think I was going to get on the other side of it all.

I will try all the things you have said, but calling the Resp Therp is a
first on my list.

This having to wake up several times during the night is making it harder
for me, but I do seem to feel better the past couple of days.

I went to get my blood work done, but I had had Crystal Lite, so I have
to go back on Monday. I really think I do have hypothroyidism. I also see
the Neuro on the 18 th!

It's just so hard getting through all of this, but on a good note I am so
glad to at least have found out that I have this disorder, and something
can be done about it.

You guy's are really wonderful, and thank you so much for your help.
I can't wait until my treatment, and for them to find out the other
problems that are going on with me that are making me so very
tired.

Hugs,
Debbie

Hi Debbie,
I'm glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. I hope the upwards trend will continue -- and be sure to let us know how it goes with you.
