Re: TV Between Your Toes... Do you fall asleep watching?
For years I have been a poor sleeper and had T V on off and on most of the night. I started a new sleep program a year ago. I have blackout drapes, I've done all the things to improve my sleep - except T. V relaxes me, I put it on timer, I am usually asleep before the timer turns the T.V, off. I keep the volume quite low.
I sometimes waken at night,& before I changed my sleep habits, I would turn the TV on and stay awake and watch it till time to get up. I had put myself in a chronicially sleep deprived state. After starting the sleep hygiene program, when I awaken, I lie there till I fall back asleep, it usually takes a few minutes.
DH used to tell me having the TV on during the night didn't bother him - now, he says I don't dream those crazy dreams anymore. If I was watching a film, the characters in it, became part of his dream.
I don't follow the sleep hygiene perfectly(The TV), but I do go to bed on a regular schedule, give or take a half-hour. I think it is the best thing I have done for my health.

I chose "What's a TV?" because
a) We don't have one in the bed room, and
b) The one we have is in the living room, away from the computer, and I almost never watch it. I have too much research to do to watch television, except on the rare occasion the husband and I settle in to watch a movie.
Now, if you'd asked me about BOOKS....!

Yeah same here. PUT THE BOOK DOWN!!! DOWN!! but my self doesn't hear a thing when reading. Suddenly it is 1am. I am very carefull what I chose to read in bed. But I need to un wind my mind or I will be writing code all night long.Kiralynx wrote:I chose "What's a TV?" because

I see no accurate option for me either. I have a TV in the bedroom, but never watch it after my mask goes on, and never watch it after bedtime. I keep regular sleep hygiene, and TV is not a part of that at bedtime, before OR after. I am a believer that flashing light variations in the room I sleep in, cannot contribute to good sleep. And why would I want to work against myself when I have invested all that I have in my cpap therapy?

come on, admit it - you're watching Human Target on hulu.com. That's TV.
Or are you a facebook junkie? Hmmm...
I tried internet in bed - going through emails - reading cpaptalk posts. I never fall asleep. Internet and bed don't mix for me. Still if you're a news junkie or a hulu addict, maybe that counts as TV...

I used to read a lot too, but since starting CPAP therapy, my mind is about like jello. I have trouble remembering the Sunday funnies. It's a little scary. Most docs just say - oh, you're stressed. Maybe. I loved reading and wish I could do it more avidly again. There are whole worlds out there in books that I wish I could revisit. Maybe the new machine will help!

I didn't answer the poll because there wasn't an option that fit. In the evening I watch tv in another room before I go to bed. I have a tv in the bedroom but I don't watch it a night. I turn it on in the morning to watch the news while I am getting dressed, etc.

Re: TV Between Your Toes... Do you fall asleep watching?
I used to watch TV in bed and really enjoyed it. Since CPAP, when the mask goes on and the air hits, the TV goes off. I may have the TV on while 'puttering' around the bedroom, but once the air starts, I have no desire to watch at all.
