Howdy from a Tyro

Post by Otter's Dad » Sat Feb 27, 2010 3:44 pm

To all those that offered their wisdom in this forum and beyond... thank you.

Ten years ago, I underwent two sleep studies. I had some difficulty getting to sleep (no surprise) and when I did, the ENT doc stated that I had some apneas, but I did not fit the profile. Two weeks ago I finally followed up with my wife's love and assistance and tonight I start the rest of my life overcoming an AHI of about 60 with a CPAP set to 16.

I appreciate the topics, humor and support that you lend to those who are new and ambivalent about nothing when it comes to sleep. This mixture of being excited about returning to a time of rest energy, yet resisting the loathing of the mask and pressure are quite the experience. My fear of overcoming less than 70% oxygen saturation is overcoming my fear of the mask.

Your information prepared me for my meeting today with a DME tech who finally admitted your sage advice as true once she realized I was informed. This will also lead me to talk to my doc (and be able to provide him with good reasons) to ask for an APAP instead of a CPAP. Your care for those in need of help is a testimony to me and will likely help if there are troubles ahead.

My thanks to all!

I had the same question.

And yes, welcome to the forum, Otter's Dad. Keep reading here so you can keep your DME on their toes.
