"It can be complicated stuff" -JNK

...yea....I'm new here....

I have been reading this site for awhile......but JNK said it was bad to just read,
so I'm posting.

I told my doctor I was really tired.....
so he told me to go sleep at the hospital.
Boy, a hospital is no where to get any rest....especially
w/all those wires glued to your head.

AnyHoo, they sent me from the hospital...over to the DME.
I don't know who they are.....but they told me what I had was bad...really bad.
They sent me home w/a small box, a hose and an oxygen mask.
They said connect everything, put it on at night and take it off in the morning.
If I did that, whatever I had that was bad would be better in the morning.

AnyHoo....the box that blows the air...well I just couldn't take it.
I don't know about you...but if you suck it in...you got'a blow it out.
....man, I just couldn't blow it out......and if I was blow'n it out...
it wasn't the right place.

That DME place told me there was nothing they could do...
it was out of their hands.....
I just had to suck it up and learn to blow it out.
I told them where they could blow it out and
told them I had friends.....
w/torches and axes.

....well, the guy says...."oh, that's a different story."
So, he told me if I could slip him a few extra bills,
I could be upgraded. I've never really been upgraded....so I did.

I think what I've got is a Resmed auto Elite II vpap.
He said it varies the pressure automatically...
so I guess that's why they call it a vpap.
He said the part that helps you blow it out is flex.
I don't know if I have the a or the c......but atleast I can blow it out now.
Weather it's the c or the a, it's easier to breathe and so I guess that's why they
call it EasyBreathe.

AnyHoo....I did have some annoying leaks around my mask....
so...since I was reading where you use Polident to seal those up....
it works good....
It is kind of messy in the morning....but I am feeling ok...
so whatever was really bad must be getting better...
just like that DME said it would.
Boy, those guys really do know their stuff.

AnyHoo, since I was reading here, I found that little card,
sticking out the back of my vpap.
I guess that is for my data.
I followed a link posted here. It took me to a site called
"Jolly Roger Software."
I got the software for free....cool.

....but I had to reload my computer before I could use it.
.....man, I hate it when that happens.

I guess now I'll be able to see the bad stuff I have.

AnyHoo, I'm thinking about getting one of those reptile heated hoses.
I'm not exactly sure how they work though...
I thought they were cold blooded.....
I guess the ones from Australia are different.

AnyHoo...that's where I'm at.
Just wanted to thank everyone for their help in
clearing all this vpap stuff up for me.

I would have never figured it out if not for you.

OMG, that's hilarious! And exactly how many of us feel as we're trying to navigate the sleep industry's winding yellow brick road -- sleep studies and DMEs and xPAP machines and masks, oh my!

Thanks, I needed some comic relief this afternoon! Just finished doing tax returns.

Very clever! That's great that you got your DME to upgrade you. All my DME ever did was degrade me.

DoriC! Carbonman is making fun of me again!!! Make him stop!

Dude, you are, like, your own inner circle.

I've gotten a lot of help here. And I've tried to give some. But YOU, my fraternity friend, make a difference.

Thanks for what you do. And please keep doing it.

But for the record, DoriC likes me more. Nyah!

Carbonman,

I have a better idea than the polident! Try using crazy glue and I am sure that you will no longer have leak problems. You can also use the tube to feed yourself as the mask will become a permanent part of your face also saving you money as you no longer will need to replace the mask. Next time do not warn the bad DME as we the unruly hoard are restless and are looking forward to tar and feathering the monsters.
