Broken Card?

Post by DreamDiver » Sun Feb 21, 2010 1:09 pm

Recently, I've been getting errors when I insert the card.
Today, I can't get it to read the card at all.
I'm wondering if I need a new card or if my reader is broken. Any thoughts?
What's the life expectancy on an EP smart card?
Read Error from EP1.8:

When I use the MyCPAP card utility, I get this:

This is what I see in the details pulldown:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Ensure the card reader is plugged directly into the computers usb port, not a hub. if it is in a hub, this error will happen, and if you were trying to write to the card, it will become corrrupt, and require reformatting.

Paul,
Thanks for your reply - I hadn't thought of reformatting. Actually, I had to do that couple weeks ago when I was using Win7. Also, the card was beginning to double beep upon reinsertion into the M-Series Pro slot. I had to reseat the card on more than one occasion. A couple times, upon waking, as soon as I turned off the CPAP, it would start doing the double-beep error. I tried reformatting the card just now with the same error result.

Sounds as if it is time for a new card. Unfortunately, those cards are not made all that sturdy. That's why I'm glad to see the industry move toward SD cards instead. They tend to last much better than various smart cards.
