There are Resmed S9s already available and in use in the USA. In fact, I am sure that it is here in the cpaptalk forum that there has been at least one, maybe two, threads dealing w/those users' experience w/the S9 so far.

I think it is a good looking device. I'm not at all happy about the second cord and power brick which is one of the things I have hated so much about the Respironics devices. I'm not so sure about the hose running off the back of the device either. I've not had a problem w/"rain out" so the humidification/hose issue isn't impressing me any.

What I AM interested in is the amount of data and ease of accessing it!!! I don't expect any less effective therapy from a Resmed. They've always been a quality device.

Here's one recent thread that discusses the ResMed S9 in some depth: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=49177. It is a user's report about the machine. The thread discusses machine features, has numerous links to user's manuals, etc., and shows screen shots of the new version of ResScan (3.10) with data from the S9.

It it pretty, but it looks awfully wide and looks like it will take over a nightstand. I wonder why they put the humidifier "climate control unit" beside it instead of below it.

I definitely understand your rant, plr66. The mask is a much more important key to being able to "do cpap" than the cosmetic appearance or the bells and whistles of a new model line of machines, imho.

On page 12, tattooyu's DME talks to a ResMed rep:

"I wanted to chime in here and mention that I brought it up to my DME, who is a great guy and very interested in my feedback and my therapy. He spoke with a rep. at ResMed (I don't know what department) and he brought it up to them. According to him, they know about this quality control issue on the nasal pillows but don't want to change anything because, "Patients are allowed new nasal pillows every month anyway."

I don't know, it looks like the technology and therapy might be a step forward, BUT altho attractive there seems to be a lot said AGAINST some of the design features. I'm thinking all in all this is a bit of a step backwards despite the new therapy technology. I know I'm not too impressed w/what I'm seeing and reading so far and am ever so glad I've got and had the good ole S8s!!!!

I'm with you, Slinky. I'd stick with the S8 II models.

Because that's what Respironic did in the PR1....

A pity the engineers had to give into to the designers. The therapy and "climate control" sound intriguing, makes you want to buy it. The form? Human engineering (probably no one gave it a minute's thought)? Yuck.
