ComfortLite 2 - Other options? Nose bridge issues still

Post by jucs » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:48 am

Ok, I really like the comfortlite 2 top hose entrance, etc.

I also have to use it with nasal covers that do not go up the nose. However, to get it leak proof at the bottom of the cover, it still creates too much nose bridge pressure. So, zits, soreness, redness occurs.

Are there any ideas or other masks similar (cover not cushion insert in to nose) I can try or is there something I might be missing? I've tried working every angle to keep the seal and not have the redness. And, it's not like I feel a lot of pressure on my bridge in the first place.

Thanks everyone.

Are there any other nasal masks that might have this sort of direct nose seal but not cause my bridge issues either? I saw one that seemed to have this type as an "inner" one and has an outer one too. Thanks.

I find the Resmed Mirage SoftGel very comfortable on the nose.

They have what they call a DirectSeal, which appear to contact only the edges of the nares.... Never tried them though, since the kit I got came with nasal pillows and simple cushions...and I settled on nasal pillows.

I have a theory on this. I suspect that simply placing any impervious surface that keeps the air out, against the nose bridge all night allows any bacteria in the pores to develop rapidly into a spot. This must also create all sorts of skin reactions on what is a very sensitive area. I think the redness is just part of the process of the skin getting tougher and adapting to the mask,(which takes time whatever mask you use) aggravated by the first point.

I had to use various tapes at first because of rally bad soreness and spots. I tried wiping all mask contact points on my face and nose with an antiseptic before and after putting the mask on. That cleared up the spots etc almost straight away and I also think it toughened up the nose bridge quicker.

I don't use any tapes or stuff now but still use antiseptic and the red marks are gone in under an hour most days.
