Bed tilt

Has anyone actually tried a Mediwedge bed? The one that's as long as your whole bed, not just e.g. 30" long? Thank you.

I don't but some people just put something under the top of the bed, at the height they want, and it puts the whole bed on a slant.

If I wanted my whole bed "slanted", that's what I would do. Don't need to spend money on a whole bed wedge, if there is such a thing.

There are "blocks" you can purchase at medical supply stores that do just that. They come in various heights. They are also availabe for chairs for people who need help getting in and out of low chairs. Some people, with problems getting in and out of a low bed, put them under all 4 corners to raise the whole bed.

They can also be home made.

There are some concerns with putting blocks under your headboard, primarily that there be a center support for king and queen mattresses. If the center support is not sufficient, it voids your 20-year non-prorated mattress warranty. In most cases your mattress will sag and in limited cases it will damage your box spring.

Some people do not want their headboard looming over their head when they sleep.

The MediWedge was developed to support 100% of your mattress, allowing you to sleep in any position that you normally do. It protects your investment in your mattress and box spring. It does not force you to sleep in a slightly folded position, which can actually make your reflux worse.

Since most of the damage of acid indigestion happens at night (Look it up!), and there is a very high correlation between GERD and several sleep disorders, it is imperative to control your night time acid indigestion. Gravity is the force behind how the MediWedge works.

I patented the MediWedge two years ago, it is classified as a medical device by the food and drug administration and we are registered as a durable medical equipment manufacturer. Our products carry a 10 year warranty and were designed by a manufacturing professional from the bedding industry. We receive over 850 visits per month at our web site without any advertising, with the sole exception being a small Google adwords account.

Ed,

You have a good product and I compliment you for helping people who have GERD.

But isn't it the case that simple bed lifts under the feet of the headboard work just as well? I did this until I got my GERD under control and the blocks worked fine. Center support for the mattress was already there and was not compromised by using the blocks. Anyway, in the history of the world has anyone ever collected on a mattress warranty?

Bed lifters are shown here: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/search/ ... im=1&nty=1&

I have used both the plastic $7.99 and wood $24.99 types and either works well.

I have had our bed raised for about 8 years. We have a Queen and I put a block under the center support in addition to the headboard. The block I used raised the head 5". We started with 6" but it was a little uncomfortable,

Bed Blocks work great, as long as there is a center support. It basically boils down to the fact that raising the head of your bed, by any means, helps reduce night time acid indigestion due to gravity. Our MediWedge is a way to acieve this and is certainly not the only option, but if we help to educate people who are suffering from acid indigestion at night, then we have met one of our corporate goals.

As a plant manager in the bedding industry for 14 years, I can verify that there are thousands of people that take advantage of their mattress warranty. Some multiple times. This is so expensive for the mattress companies that they hire third party mattress inspectors to go into your bedroom and inspect your mattress! Part of the inspection process is to verify that the central leg of the bed frame is adequately supported.
