You know you have been on CPAP too long when...
...You are working on college schoolwork and find out one of your up and coming medical reports you get to transcribe for one of your learning labs/exam grades is a Sleep Study and you get all excited LOL
I am taking college courses online to get my degree as a CMT (Certified Medical Transcriptionist) I have completed all 19 courses I needed and am on my learning labs which consist of 20 transcribed reports and I got the biggest kick out of this when I saw one coming up was a Sleep Study LOL...I have chose not to persue MT as a career. After I started the classes, it wasn't quite what I thought it would be even though I could work from home and that was the goal due to anxiety problems I have had but I don't like to quit things and am gonna finish out my degree. I have actually decided I am going to hopefully attempt the job I have always wanted to do and for anyone who has suffered with anxiety as I have over the yrs it will be a challenge for sure but I am determined. I want to be a 911 dispatcher my dad's whole side of the family is fire/ems/police that kind of thing and I love it all! 5 years ago I couldnt even leave my house due to anxiety and now its time I take back over my life and I am looking forward to it
P.S. Sorry that got a little off subject of CPAP...just thought I would share...

Reading your post brought me great pleasure, thanks for making me smile before I head off to bed. Take control of your life with gusto and don't let minor problems get in your way. Now that you're getting plenty of real sleep and getting out in the sunlight you may find that your allergies start to improve too. I'm sure you have exciting things waiting for you.

If being a 9-1-1 dispatcher is what you really want to do, then go after it with everything you have and don't let anything stand in your way! If an obstacle is in your way tell youself "I am not going to accept this; I'll either push it out of my way or go around it!"
You go girl!
You go girl!

Heather,
Wise choice. With your smarts, I don't think the CMT would have challenged you enough. And you're too young to work from home. Save that for when you're older and have kids that you need to be home for.
I think it's a fantastic choice you've made. And although you have some other obstacles that go along with what you're doing, you will succeed and be glad you made the decision to follow your heart's desire. I wish you the best of luck, not that you'll need any. Let us all know how it's going.

Hey! Thanks for all the replys!
Lori ~ I had actually chosen the MT for the fact I could work at home because I want to stay at home with my children from the time they are born til they start school. I would have rather started a career now that I could continue to after I had kids and they went to school. As opposed to for instance if I get a 911 dispatching job, when I decide to have kids as soon as I get pregnant the doctor will pull me out of work anyhow so I would probably have to quit my job then and then go back to work after they start school so there would be about a 5 yr time frame I wouldnt work as to just working from home all the time.
(as far as the doc pulling me out of work if I got pregnant comment I made, I have lost two babies already, so I would be put straight on bedrest and before everyone jumps on me about ohhh you are way too young to have kids and the whole you have your whole life ahead of you, not everyone knows what I have been through and well, at the time, I was in a serious relationship and we lived together, only reason we parted ways was because of my stupidity

Heather,
I'm so sorry to hear you've gone through two miscarriages. I had one myself and I don't think you can ever really fully understand what a terrible loss is truly is unless you go through it yourself. I can only imagine what it feels like to have two. Saying that you can have another baby sometime in the future is not comforting. You truly grieve for the one you lost. It's like telling a mother of a child after it passes away (God forbid) that it's okay, she can have others. Some people don't realize those are not words of comfort, but they say them thinking they are. Nothing but time helps heal the sadness, I know. And I already had two kids when this happened and it still hurt terribly.
You really are one smart cookie, let me tell you, with your thinking down the road as far as career choices. That was why I chose to stay a free-lance court reporter, even though I passed the Supreme Court test to work in the courts every day. I felt it more important to be there for my kids than to make the money. I only worked Tuesdays and Thursdays when my sons were little, and had my mom watching them (best of all baby sitters) and, with my job, had the luxury of telling my agency the day before if there was some event at school or otherwise that I wanted to be at so I could take that day off. It wasn't until my baby (who will be 13 next month) was 4 years old that I had to go back full time due to my husband becoming disabled. But at least she had daddy home to take care of her. It was great for my husband, too, to be able to spend time with his only daughter as she grew up. They are very close to this day. And he was a workaholic before becoming disabled and missed a lot of special events of our sons' when they were little as a result. He always used to say that he wished he could take some time off to be home with them. Now we say, be careful what you wish for...
Heather, best of luck in your new endeavor. I can tell from your posts that you are a bright and savvy girl who will do whatever she puts her mind to doing. Let us all know how things are going.
