I was born in 1941 and started CPAP in 2009......

Rock & Roll originated with my generation......I remember meeting Bill Haley & the Comets (still have his Autograph)
or going to a concert with Little Richard, Gene Vincent, Sonny James, The Monotones and the Big Bopper - when they used to travel as groups and they all entertained at one concert. GREAT TIMES!

Wow!!! That's an impressive list.

We actually saw the "Legends of Rock & Roll" in the 80s, I think it was - the Everly Brothers, Bo Diddly, etc, but nothing like you quote above. More like whomever was left over!!

Be glad you were diagnosed young. Many of us had the condition in our twenties and did not get diagnosed for decades. When I was in my twenties CPAP was not even a dream of Dr. Sullivan, http://www.sleepapnea.org/resources/pubs/pioneer.html .

If we could wave a wand and get everyone diagnosed tonight, you would move way, way up in the age group. It is claimed that 90% are still undiagnosed.

Still blaming Bush I see. I am still pissed at Bush and FDR. Use your CPAP and live a long life and you can add several more Presidents to your sign.

Yeah i have noticed a lot of people my age show many of the symptoms of OSA, tiredness is pretty common since I am in college but still the evidence is all there. About the picture (lol). This was a protest back a few years ago in Concord NH, I really don't have any other pictures of myself on this computer so I figured why not? haha, that's not to say i don't blame Bush still! Very funny though, because there will undoubtedly be many more presidents who fall into the same category as FDR and Bush...Sigh.
Oh well, as long as I sleep better!

Thanks for the link! I had no idea the CPAP was so new! I really hope more and more people continue to get diagnosed and treated because OSA is clearly a serious condition. Very interesting article though, seeing as I know next to nothing about this stuff other than I am glad we aren't limited to the one solution used prior to the CPAP (tracheotomy i think its called).

I am sure you are aware of many of the signs of OSA. You mentioned fatigue and then there is sleepiness, yawning, snoring, dark circles under the eye, etc.

When you notice these signs in people, also look at their jaw structures. Underdeveloped jaws which lack depth front-to-back and/or are narrow side-to-side and/or have poor mandibular advancement (recessed chin) indicate people highly likely to have OSA. These people usually have crooked teeth (may have been corrected by orthodontics) and may have had tooth extractions due to crowding in an underdeveloped jaw. Often some of their wisdom teeth have been extracted due to "lack of room".

Plenty of slim people (BMI<25) have OSA. Look at their jaw structure and you will see why. "It is not the size of the neck on the outside, it is the size of the airway in the neck."

Great music, great names - to add to those, no one could forget the truly magnificant Roy Orbison singing - especially Pretty Woman, and Mr. Dynamite, James Brown.

If I get up, the weather looks dark and dreary and more of it - I can live with it or I can put on James Brown singing "I Feel Good". After he shouts his way through that, I can get on with my day and feel darn good too.
