Ask him to reveal where you can find this totally fictitious DME so you can get their superior service too. He won't tell you.
And if you are in possession of an Illegal card reader, read on he covers that too.
Be sure to read DME Practices so you can understand how one can rationalize stealing things from a patients order. That's Good? Really?
Be sure to click the links to read more of his myths. There are plenty.
search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&author_id=12410&start=345It could be this very practice that drove him out of business. So why he comes here to offer his expertise is beyond me.mattman wrote:However, here is my reasoning. I'm betting something on the order of 95% of patients don't worry about extra sizes of nasal pillows (for instance).

"You cant buy smart card readers." - From a DME provider this is true.
"Smart card readers are for doctors only." - According to mfg policy - this is true.
"There is terminoligy in the data that patients cant understand." - This is obviously a subjective statement but from my experience for the average patient this would be absolutely correct. I may wish it otherwise. You may wish it otherwise but it's still certainly correct for 90%+ of the patients I've ever encountered.
"Changing your own pressure is illegal" - Going by the letter of the law and certainly from the liability standpoint of a provider this is also correct.
This doesn't take into account whether any of us agree or disagree with the reasoning behind it (For example if someone should be able to change thier own pressure) but from a purely factual standpoint and from the standpoint of a tradtional DME provider this is correct.

To illustrate - I have another question. Why doesn't anyone ever get this irate over this forums owner being paid the the same amount I do for CPAP equipment? Everyone is fine with it when he gets those amounts. Yet when I do, I'm "preying on the innocent". Why the double standard? To me, the answer is because you are happy with the service from him. Okay, great.
Then it leads to these posts where he originally pretended to be a cpap patient named Bingo. Bingo felt obliged to defend ruthless DME's for some reason. Trying to convince us that overcharging us is a good thing. Why would he mislead us all from the very beginning? Ask him. I wouldn't be surprised if he is posting under other names as an RT. Maybe even that rj rt?

I'm just gonna run quote here as I've gotta strap up and get to bed!
"i think most people would want the manual if they knew it existed "
I expect you are right!!
"and if they knew that there was no danger to changing their own pressure."
I think we will disagree on that, as I do think there is a danger as illustrated in my post a few spots up in this thread.

Once the machine is totally kaput or I've shuffled off this mortal coil, I've no need for the equipment. Why not just choose rental and let someone else worry all about it?
Bingo wrote:This would definately be something I would speak to your equipment provider about.
They can adjust the starting pressure and ramp time to your liking. A standard starting pressure for a new CPAP setup is 4cm.

I should have known better.
You know, I give up. It's just too difficult to try and have an open and objective conversation here.
I sincerely hope you all find what you are looking for, and I wish you the best. Honestly, I really do.
Bingo - giving up

One of the regular points of contention in many posts around here has been the amounts being reimbursed by an insurance company for equipment. Cpap.com gets reimbursed the same amounts from the insurance companies, yet he is regularly considered a wonderful person/company here. Why the schism between the two entities? The same equipment - the same reimbursement. Yet one group (The Equipment Providers) are considered money-grubbing scum out to get rich, the other considered 'The beginning of a revolution!'. Understand, I have ZERO problem with that model, and both sides should be allowed to make whatever living they can in their chosen field. I just take issue with the double-standard.
Aside from that, yes I am hearing the frustration and anger. Part of my difficulty is that for myself, and generally speaking for all those I know - virtually none of us have ever had anything remotely resembling the kinds of experiences many of you relate. Myself specifically, I have encountered one doctor in my lifetime who I felt did not genuinely care about me. So I found another. That's all. Nothing to it. I would expect to find the occasional sour grape in my bunch. It's a fact of life.
So, since neither myself nor any in my "circle" have had these experiences, I have a hard time relating to them.
Am I saying anyone is wrong in thinking they have had bad experiences, of course not. How could I? I'm not in your shoes.
Anyways, again - this is my opinion. My perspective.
