Are you sure you still need it?

I don't think I need it as I forgot to mark it on my calendar to take it when my doc put me on it every other day. I didn't take it for three days and was going to take it today but haven't yet.
My doc said you just don't stop taking nexium, you have to be weened off it.

I wonder if I can go back and eat the ear steaming food I used to? I used to make chili and other hot foods that I had to wrap a towel around my neck and one around my head to catch the sweat. My mouth still waters to this day when I think about those foods but I gave them up when the heartburn started.

It may not be a good idea to go back to them and just enjoy remembering them.

I think spicy foods are good for my health. After my esophagus healed and I had apnea under control, I went back to eating very hot Thai, Korean, Mexican and Gujarati foods. I do leave four hours between a fiery meal and bedtime. Still no more problems with GERD.

YMMV.

I will have to give some of those foods a try. The guys at work used to watch the sweet run off me as I would eat. Most of them would smell the food and their eyes would water. Amateurs pure amateurs.

You're going to go off proton pump inhibitors AND start eating spicy food concurrently.

Not at the same time. I will be going off the meds and after a while try some of my old favorites.

My doctor told me I have chronic gastritis. I have been taking Diovol when I was younger then I switched to Pepcid. My doctor put me on Omeprazole for the last year. I had my CPAP for about a month and I want to try if my gastritis is under control. I stopped taking for 3 nights and last night I had I small heartburn nothing serious but enough to wake me up. Nothing in my esophagus.

Do you think I need to weened off the ameprazole?

I think there is a strong relationship between OSA and acid reflux. I suffered from severe heartburn for twenty years prior to being diagnosed with OSA. I tried all sorts of both over-the-counter and prescription medications that provided only marginal temporary relief. However, I have taken no heartburn medications and haven't had heartburn more than two or three times during the more than 15 years that I have been using CPAP therapy. Various doctors have looked at me like I must be "nuts" when I have told them that; but in my case, heartburn stopped when CPAP was started. I love spicy foods and since starting CPAP therapy I can eat anything I want whenever I want with no concern whatsoever about heartburn.

No, you don't. If you go off, your symptoms may come back. But that will happen whether you wean or not.
