Mouth tape, drool and Lansinoh
Mouth tape, drool and Lansinoh
I mouth tape for several months but lately developed a sore in the corner of my lips - left side. (I sleep on my left side) It seems to me that when some drool (not much)comes in contact with the tape, it makes this reaction. It is realy sore by now and I cannot seem to get it to heel during the day. In the middle of the tape I put one layer of tissue to protect my lips but it was not long enough so I lenghtened it last night and also put some Lansinoh on my lips especially in the corners of my lips. I am happy to say that this morning the sore is almost completely heeled. Do you have the same problem and what do you do with mouth tape and drool? Is it possible to close your lips so tightly that absolutely no drool will come out?

Re: Mouth tape, drool and Lansinoh
I put a lot of burt's bees chapstick on my lips and all around my lips before I put the tape on. also, I purse my lips together while I am putting the tape on. This seems to help get a better seal (lip pursing), and the chapstick seems to help me from getting sores or chapped lips, dryness.

Rolling your lips in is the answer.
Get your tape ready, then make a "toothless granny" face so your lips are pressed against each other. Bite them gently between your teeth and apply a strip of tape centered on your lips. Press it firmly with your fingers to get a good seal. Release the bite and they should stay in position. You can then add another strip on top and/or bottom, overlapping the initial strip. (You may or may not need additional strips, based on the width of the tape and your facial contours.)
This procedure (1) keeps your lips pressed tightly together, preventing saliva from reaching the adhesive and destroying the seal. And (2) keeps the adhesive stuck to your facial skin, and not the tender lips. It prevents both the problems the OP mentions. It also keeps you from losing a layer of "lip skin" when you peel off the tape in the AM.
Lansinoh, Chapstick, Burt's, etc. all compromise the tape adhesive, causing leaks. You should wash with soap and dry thoroughly right before taping, to remove makeup, skin oils, etc.

Which tape are you using?
Masks I've tried but didn't like :
FlexiFit HC405 - couldn't stop the leaks

...I do the 'rolling of lips' but maybe not enough and I have got fat cheeks. Last night I took a longer (much longer) piece of tape and found my lips this morning completely dry. Thanx LinkC!LinkC wrote:facial contours
