Hello,
Is it possible to get mold inside the CPAP machine where the blower is? I've been sick with respiratory infections and the similar for three separate times in the last month. The old apartment I lived in had mold growing on the walls and it got into my mattress which had to be thrown away. My doctor has no idea why I keep getting sick. My only other thought is that it's the CPAP machine. Is there a way to take the CPAP apart and sterilize the insides including the blower etc? I will also mention I have replaced every consumable item on that device filters, hose, and mask and I still got sick.
Thanks,
David
Mold in CPAP machine?
Re: Mold in CPAP machine?
without knowing what machine, how old etc. I can't suggest taking it apart and cleaning it - I wouldn't hesitate if it were one of mine but then I have had mine apart before
you might want to contact the DME and ask what suggestions they have for disinfecting a machine
I have seen posts about getting smoke out of machines here - an ozone machine should also kill mold

Re: Mold in CPAP machine?
Likely would be easier to get a replacement from your DME. I think it would be possible. What is the history of your machine? A loaner from the DME? Meaning used machine?
Since being on cpap, I have had far fewer colds than ever in my life. And I don't do the cpap cleaning some on here mention. I think the body needs some impurities to get it's defenses up and running.
Edit:
Guess we'll neva no

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Mold in CPAP machine?
If the mold in your apartment was enough to get into your mattress, then it may be in your blankets, pillows, clothing, shoes, towels, appliances, electronics, books, vacuum cleaner, and everything else you had in the old place. Before you take apart your machine, maybe you could haul everything washable you have down to a laundromat making sure not to wash with too heavy a load.
