I have always used Ivory Classic Dishwashing liquid for my masks, hoses and humdifier water chamber. I have never used vinegar or anything else on my cpap equipment.

I am very sensitive to pefumy smells and have never had a problem (7+ years on cpap) with the Ivory.

I use whatever bar of soap is in the bathroom.

I lather up my hands, wash out the mask, rince it real well, towel dry, and I'm all set. When I use the mask, I don't smell anything at all.

I find Dr. Bonner's in a varieyt of scnets in spcecialty shops where I live -- those that sell organic stuff.

You might, at the risk of revealing you secret identity , try to order Dr. Bonner's online.

I use the peperming and the lavender -- both leave a residue. So did baby shampoo, so it might be a water composition, and / or temperature issue as well.

I use Ultra Palmolive "Pure and Clear" and really like it so far. No Anti-bacterial agents and minimal scent, rinses very easily. Its $2.50 for a medium size bottle.

Their is one laundry soap that you can use that is very gentle and doesn't have any fragrances in it. It is for washing infants clothing or clothing of those that are particularly sensative to fragrances and other such things. I can't recall the name of it now as my son it 11 and it's been about 9 years since I had to use that when I laundered his clothes.


Most hand soaps have lotion or moisturizers in them. I found that using them creates major leak problems.

Yes ladies, some of us guys do laundry and dishes just don't use that against your husband or I will deny it.

I can always edit this to take that out and deny it for every.

I don't know what stores are available to you, but Meijer in Michigan carries Dr. Bronner's unscented. It's in the "naturals" area of the pharmacy where the higher-end grooming items are (and in my Meijer, in a hard-to-spot location on the bottom shelf).

Note that there is no such thing as soap made without fats or oils of some kind. Soap is made of fat + sodium hydroxide + water. The fat can be vegetable or animal. If you find a so-called "soap" without any type of fat, it's actually a detergent (made with synthetic ingredients). Some people find that avoiding detergents and using only soaps is helpful with sensitivity issues.

Also, if you buy homemade soap, you will want to inquire about any scents or colorants used in it. Often, the fragrance or colorant is all-natural, but that doesn't guarantee that you or your skin will like it.

What is the problem with using vinegar? I use warm water and vinegar solution for weekly cleaning and non scented baby wipes for daily.

Oh my goodness, Gerry - I never thought of that - gee you are clever! I usally wash my pillows with diluted baby shampoo but sometimes (justs sometimes) I wash the pillows with face soap. Maybe I must change to dishwashing liquid soap Yes, I think I am going to do that - I will keep a bottle of diluted Sunlight Liquid in the bathroom.

I knew most hand soaps had moisturizer in them but never thougth about it, until I had problems with it. I was washing my mask at the firehouse using liquid hand soap and began having problems with it leaking. Sure enough, we got a shipment of new handsoap in that had moisturizer in it.

Yes, Dreft is the laundry soap I used to use.

I also looked and the Ivory dish soap I use is the classic and it is scented, I just don't notice it. However you can get ivory soap bar without scenting in it.

I seldom wash my mask, but when I do, I use regular (blue) Dawn dish washing liquid. The smell seems to rinse off and it doesn't seem to leave anything behind. It is the detergent used to wash spilled crude oil off of wildlife.
