I would take issue with this assessment.akcpapguy wrote:.... Encore Pro's report are much more user friendly and basic in detail. ....
I will agree that Encore's graphics are "more user friendly" for the average, and especially for the novice, user.
But for numerical information, ResMed's straightforward statistical summary is far more useful and far better organized.
For rudimentary nightly statistics, you have to look all over the Encore report - all relevant information does not appear on the nightly graph page. In addition, the SAME information is sometimes presented on different pages, with different levels of precision. Highly confusing, and highly disorganized. (Except perhaps for the Daily Events Per Hour table, which is clever and interesting, but arguably not particularly useful on a night-by-night basis, and hardly anyone seems to talk about looking at it over multiple nights.)
Thus there is something of a tradeoff between statistics and graphics - and ignoring either is detrimental to understanding.
Neither of the two software packages merits any unconditional claim of superiority (with the exception of special issues involving access to underlying data, but this involves only few specialized users). CPAP users are far better off with either, than they are without any software.
But if a decision regarding machine choice is to be based largely on software, the absence of apnea duration information on Encore may well be viewed as a potentially fatal blow to Respironics.
