Sleep Test II? Need help!

Post by Virtus Velox » Wed Jan 06, 2010 9:52 pm

My respiratory clinic at the VA I really believe is deaf!
Anyone know what I need to make happen to get a second sleep test? My last was over 2 years ago and now I know the kind of questions I need to ask but they
seem real reluctant to refer me. Probably budget cuts I'm sure but if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them

Why do you think you "need" another sleep study? Your profile is showing a REMstar Pro 2. It's a data-capable CPAP. I know, I have one. If you don't have the software and card reader to download and look at the reports, I'd highly recommend that you get it to see if your therapy is and has been working.

I guess Dennis, between running our business while the economy is falling like integrity levels from a tyrant, dealing with a 15 year old pregnant daughter, and a son who loves video games more than life...vidiot, I think they're called...I guess I was hoping for just one more nights excellent sleep.
I have never had the same quality of sleep like I had that night
Then after I get inspired from reading here, yours and others great recommendations as to tending to our needs and not the providers...I go to the VA and .. this is no joke Dennis, I have to show the technician were to look for the AHI levels
I must be just needing one more great nights sleep and to be able to face to face talk about how to get better.
Don't get me wrong, I am sooo much better than I used to be before becoming a "hoser"!
Thanks for letting me vent

I think MOST of us who went through the titration part of the sleep study have that same feeling/thought. It could be because we were so sleep deprived and that few hours of sleep was like a shot of some kind of high-potency drug.

I have the impression that you have the software, so you should be able to judge how your therapy is going. I'm also greatly aware of how work and family life can be a big factor in our quality and amount of sleep.

We all need to vent at times.

Best wishes for the new year.

Virtus--

Like Den mentioned, I think most of wish we could get that same feeling of being on top of the world we had the day after our titration study.

I am unsure if it was due to the fact we were able to finally sleep like we are supposed to with adequate oxygen levels or if it is just the relief of finally knowing we are headed in the right direction and the titration study confirms that. Maybe it is a combination of both.

Are there issues that are bothering you about your therapy?

As far as the stinking economy not much you can do about unfortunately. I know that doesn't help, but many are in the same boat that is slowly taking on water and no way to stop it.

The fifteen year old pregnant daughter, been there done that. It is a difficult situation and I can totally relate. When we found out our fifteen year old daughter was pregnant, it was only after numerous doctor's appointments, counselling, mega doses of meds (both antidepressants -- 250 mg of Zoloft, and antibotics). Not one doctor suggested a pregnancy test as she was sooooo adamant that she was not sexually active. At 5 and 1/2 months and another visit to the er I suggested a pregnancy test and bingo -- we found out the cause of all of her "stomach problems". Due to all the high powered drugs the doctors were worried about the effects on the baby. A little for that. Thankfully my daughter's baby was healthy with no ill effects from the drugs. She finished high school, had a good job as produce manager for 6 years and is now in college finishing her degree in social work. Her daughter is 13 now and excels in junior high. My daughter and the baby's father stayed together and recently celebrated their 10th anniversary. I guess what I am trying to get to is that things CAN work out with your daughter. She will need all of your support that you can give (not monetary but moral support).

As far as your son, depending upon how old he is -- hopefully he will outgrow this stage and will be able to move forward.

Good luck and know that you are not alone.
