Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
Each morning after using my APAP I drain the humidifier reservoir dry and run the blower for 10 - 15 minutes in order to dry out the humidifier, APAP unit, hose and mask. I also rinse my nasal pillows and the tube that leads from the hose to the mask and shake out excess water before using the blower to dry.
Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
No, I only empty the tank if I'm traveling with it. Each morning the tank gets topped off with more distilled water.

Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
I never run the blower unless I'm wearing the mask at night. It screws up my usage data and sets off an annoying air leak alarm.

That machine is for my breathing. Room air can dry other stuff out, that's why I have spares.

The way I see it, My machine has a life of 'X' amount of hours. I don't want to waste any of them drying stuff out.

My machine does all that for me.....automatically.....

Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
The Resmed does this automatically at a lower flow rate... it runs for an hour I think after you shut off. If I don't empty the water tank right away, after I do, I turn on the machine for just a few seconds and then off again to get the blower running again to dry it out.

Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
If there is condensation in the hose I use my old 'first' cheapo machine to dry it out. That's about all it's good for. Nine year old original from the original DME.
Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
I used mine once to blow up an air mattress. Worked pretty good.

Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
I'm assuming you mean running the actual machine in the "on" position as opposed to the fan which runs for an hour after I hit the stop button (ResMed Autoset II)?

I dont use it to save the planet one killowat at a time,or cause im way to cheap.
Re: Poll: Do you use blower to dry out everything?
So far most of those who responded do not use the blower to dry the machine. Although some have reported that their machine does this automatically. If I don't use the blower for drying then my hose, mask and the tube leading to the mask will be wet from condensation at all times. And I want to avoid leaving these items wet all the time so that odors and mold do not have a chance to form.

Snorkler,
I don't understand why you think your mask, hose, and tube will be wet all the time. Even doing nothing to dry it, it will be airing out and drying 16 hours a day when not in use. I wash my mask every morning. I have used all types including hybrids, pillows, nasal, and FF. I currently switch between a comfortgel nasal and a Quattro FFM. I gently shake out excess water, then place it face or open side up, on a towel to dry all day. It has never been wet when I put it on at night. I disconnect my hose daily and hang it on a nail or on the towel bar to dry. I wash it about once every 2 weeks in warm soapy water. I vigorously shake out excess water and hang it to dry. Although it has had noticable spots of water left in the hose, they have never made it to my face and running the machine overnight in normal use had always eliminated the droplets. It just becomes a little extra "passover humidity". I do not currently use the humidifier as it worsens my sinus issues, but the same process worked when I did use my humidifier. Even when it was set high enough to cause rainout. Unless you have a room humidifier set to 90%+ everything should air dry daily.
