I did nine months on a no data machine. I was drowning. I felt worse after nine months of fighting with bad masks and a machine that wasn't set to give me enough pressure.
I have had my AutoSet II for about a year and have used it very night. Some nights I need more pressure and some nights less. The machine does all of the work.

Ok, I am the one other vote so far. I had a machine about five years ago for a short time, then was upgraded to an auto pap which I bumped with the humidifier chamber in it and got water in it and ruined it. Unfortunately the RT explained how to put the humidifier together and into the machine wrong which is what caused the problem. Then I was given an old auto machine to use and finally gave up becuase I wasn't having good luck. Then I finally got by BiPap last year.

Make that 4 machines in 18 year... An old Respironics Remstar CPAP, a Respironics BiLevel Tranquility, a Respironics BiLevel Auto M Series, and now a ResMed VPAP Adapt SV unit. By the way, I just got EIGHT hours of sleep (with one short break in there) and would have slept longer if it were not for that delivery we received !!!! Whoooo Hooooo !!!! I feel like a kid in the candy store!

I started with a Remstar Plus in June of 2005, I bought a Remstar Pro2 in June of 2006, I went to using a M-Series Bi-Pap in July of 2007.

I got 3 machines in one year, a Remstar Pro 2, from DME Ins, A Remstar APAP with Cflex new from Cpap.com, and a Used Remstar APAP with Cflex from online auction, Two have the HH new with them. All are still working fine. The used APAP is sneaking up on 10,000 hours.

Why have 3? Because they are all "Classic Tanks", built better and stronger than the models made now. Call me when (IF) your new ones ever gets to 10,000 hours. The "Tanks" are like the energizer Bunny..... Probably my next new XPAP will be made five years from now. Jim

I purchased 5 Legacy ("Classic Tank") models in four years.....before they disappeared (a Pro 2 and 4 Autos). Actually, I bought another one for my son in 2007, so that would actually make a total of 6 that I've purchased. I believe they are/were a far superior design than what's been produced since. In fact, Respironics used that type of case for their Bi-PAP ASV model.

I figured up the other day that I have accumulated about 12000 hours on those five.

4 machines in less than a year. I started with a Respironics Series M in Feb 2009 which was leased by my insurance company. After a few weeks my employer switched insurance companies and I had to return it as the new carrier dealt with a different equipment supplier. They leased me a ResMed machine (I don't remember the model number) but at my next follow up visit my sleep doctor said they should have gotten me a Respironics machine because it loggs data better. On his say-so they leased me another Respironics Series M. Then last summer I turned over and pulled the machine off my headboard and it landed upside down and the electronics got soaked with water from the tank, so I returned it and got a refirbished machine just like it. The ResMed is quieter and deals better with condensation, but the Respironics gives my doctor better data. I bored holes in my headboard and strapped the machine down with a luggage strap so it can't fall off again.

I’ve been on xPAP for four years, with two machines. I bought a REMstar Auto from CPAP.COM four years ago (just before the M-Series came out) and got far better therapy than from the single-pressure CPAP that the DME gave me. I’ve been very happy with that machine

About a couple of years ago, I bought maybe the very last brand new REMstar Auto on the shelf of any dealer in the country. I bought it as a back-up and as a hedge against not being able to find a machine I liked if/when the first one dies. For a while, I used it at our second home so as to avoid carrying the one machine back and forth. With the hours mounting up on my primary machine, I now keep it here at home in case I need it right away for a backup.

But I have well over 9000 hours on my first REMstar Auto and it is still going strong.

My wife uses a ResMed VPAP Adapt SV. She is now on her third one in less than two years. Happily ResMed has replaced it twice under warranty when the one she had crapped out. I’m not sure what we’ll do if/when her latest one dies an early death after the two-year warranty period runs out (and her insurance probably won’t pay for a replacement yet.) If we have to pay for one out of pocket, I figure in will be a something not made by ResMed.

I used my first machine, ResMed Elite, for a little more than a year before purchasing my M Series Auto APAP, been using it for just over 2 years now, still going strong!

I was diagnosed just over a month ago - now have two machines and a ton of accessories.

I am determined to get the best effect from my treatment... so am constantly looking for ways to improve it.

Three machines, plus one backup in 11 years. Started out on a Solo, and used that for approximately 4 years. Then, got my first autopap, a Virtuoso, and used that for 6 1/2 years, very successfully. Now, the Intellipap which I love. Before the Intellipap, I had an M series, which I did not like, and it serves as my backup machine.

Started out in October 2006 w/a Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR. (We won't count the Respironics pre-M Series Plus a local DME tried to foist off on me they delivered late on a Friday afternoon and I returned early on the following Monday morning).

I bought a Respironics pre-M Series Auto w/C-Flex as a back up - but after having a Resmed I didn't particularly like it. Tho it was nothing to do w/the therapy it provided.

So, I bought a lightly used Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage for my backup. It was subject to the Recall so I was given a brand new Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage in its place.

Then March 2008 I was switched to a bi-level and INSISTED on the Resmed VPAP Auto (the Auto 25 hadn't come out yet).

I wanted a backup bi-level so bought a lightly used Respironics pre-M Series BiPAP Auto w/BiFlex. I wouldn't even consider an M Series. But - I really don't care for the Respironics devices. It has nothing to do w/the therapy they provide which is excellent.

It has to do w/their not being as easy to assemble and disassemble when traveling, with that doggone power brick, with the fussy access to the limited data via the LCD screen that I don't like. I found the EncorePro software somewhat difficult to install, the card reader fussy about using an extension from my 'puter tower, and despite also having the MyEncore and EncoreAnalyzer freeware, I found the EncorePro more difficult to use and understand the printouts than the Resmed AutoScan and later ResScan software. The Resmed cable reader has no problem w/the extension from my 'puter tower. The ONLY thing I liked about the EncorePro software was the Daily Events Per Hour table chart. THAT I do like, A LOT.

I've lost track of the number of hours I've put on each device. But I'm basically 100% compliant since night one in October 2006. The only exceptions being as I remember them, in-lab PSGs and one night in a motel after hitting a deer carcass on the xpressway and being too tired and disgusted to bother hauling anything into the motel room but my purse.

By the way, my Elite is busy traveling all over the USA and Canada most weekends of the year taking good care of a CKC and AKC licensed dog show judge. The pre-M Series Auto is safely tucked away w/one of our forum members as a backup and the pre-M Series BiPAP Auto is hoping to be traded or replaced w/another Resmed VPAP auto or VPAP Auto 25, but it isn't leaving here until I find one!.
