So here is one persons interim summary & assessment (purely opinion )
================================================================

This board was set up by a very innovative DME called Johnny Goodman. He runs a business called cpap.com and could see (with vision) the value of a discussion forum where purchasers of cpap equipment could talk about their gear and its use.

Johnny Goodman may have invited vendors (whose products he represents), to join in the forum in support of any discussions about their products

Johnny Goodman has resisted all demands & requests to police the forum as he has always believed the members should regulate themselves

Discussions on any type of OSA treatment are allowed and occur regularly (proof is to do a search on a topic)

Most folk here (as per this thread) joined the forum after obtaining an xpap device and finding cpaptalk

A very significant majority of posters here appear to be legitimate ordinary xpap users from around the world (no evidence to the contrary)

There may well be people associated with vendors here & generally they are welcomed if they are contributing to the purpose of the forum

The forum members change regularly over time - and a few die hards just like to keep coming back, some are here all the time

The original poster seems to have made a lot of incorrect assumptions about cpaptalk & most of us still wonder why & how ?

No need for us to wonder Doug ... he was obviously fishing for the business of unsuspecting newbies

K, I'm not so sure of that, Link is probably "warming up" right now so stay tuned!

Just a guess... but I'm going to throw this out there. Respectfully.

Probably the reason everyone TALKs about CPAP on here is that the site is actually called: CPAPTALK.COM. I suppose if it was called "SURGERYFORAPNEA.COM" or "STOPYOURSNORINGWITHANIFTYDENTALPIECE.COM" or maybe "MEDICALAPPROACHESTHATWOULDHELPYOUBREATHEATNIGHT.COM", then you would definitely see more alternate threads of thinking.

I'm not sure if those domain names are taken yet... feel free to steal my ideas - I'm a giver like that.

Me? I actually love my CPAP (I confess it freely) and I am not so big on surgery stuff - I've had problems in that area before. It's definitely a last resort to me. I'm also, I assure you, not being paid to say anything nice about CPAP (but if anyone would like to send a check, please make it out to...)

I am just astounded at the number of people here who have not been paid. I haven't missed a check yet.

And I would likely come here purely for the entertainment value it offers
I didn't know you needed to have problems too.

Respectfully,

to keep his thing up more than 4 hrs so he can call his friends looky here O2 is up again!!!

I think it's pretty obvious from the wording of my posts that I'm paid by the word.

I don't suppose anyone around here has considered surgery that directly implants a CPAP port right into their nose and to seal up that mouth to stop leaks... I mean the bias is just plain as day.

Obviously that's the idea behind this forum, so something like this is in order:
