How many hours of use are on your machine?

Post by Gerryk » Sun Dec 06, 2009 10:41 pm

Ok, I just made this up for giggles but it lists the hours up to about 4 to 4.5 hours depending on how many hours a night you use your machine. I allowed two votes per person one for the numbers and one for you to check if this is your second or third machine. This isn't to count machines you broke.

My new machine (the M-Series) only has 320 hours on it. My previous machine Sullivan VPAP II has 25,800 hours on it. It still works, but I do like my new M-Series.

I am on my fourth machine in 21 years, with 6-8 hours a night, and 100% compliant. This machine is 6 months old,
"I can't do anything about the past. I have no idea what will happen tomorrow. What matters is the present. And, just in case tomorrow should never come, I'm going to use the present as constructively as I can."

I am at the 6 month mark on my first machine w/ 1,030 hours. Every nighttime and Sunday afternoon naps the mask goes on and I sleep great! 100% compliant and no regrets!

I am now on my third machine after about 21 years machine usage. Present machine is a Respironics BiPAP Plus with BiFlex.
I've had it for 3 years now, and have about 7400 hours therapy time. I like the machine quite well-it is quiet and very effective, though I sometime wish that it had the "Smart-Card" feature that I see so much discussion about.

Ok Since you asked, I have a question, too. I have 2714 therapy hours and 2733 blower hours. No one has ever used/owned the machine but me. Over the last year I have watched the disparity between the numbers grow. I don't use it as a leaf blower or to dust my keyboard. From what is the difference? When the machine is on, it's on me, except for the few seconds it takes to turn the machine off after I take the mask off.

Rast, welcome aboard.
OCN that is a good question. I was wondering because mine shows different hours too. I think their was a thread on here about that some time ago.

Yes there was a thread, but the only thing I remember was that they said sometimes the machine was used or they did something at the factory. At that point there was about 3 hours difference, I'd paid no attention before that. But since then, I've watched the difference grow. I'm pretty sure the dog isn't using the machine while I'm out.

I haven't asked but I sure hope my kids aren't playing with it. I know I told them not to touch it and doubt they did.

Uncle Buck
Why don't you start a threat and let us know what's going on and what questions you have if any.

On this second machine, I'm up to 6193 therapy hours with 6237 blower hours over 866 sessions.

Not really sure why the 44 hour difference, unless there's really been that much in terms of cumulative leaks and/or time blowing before I settle the mask on my face. That might make some sense, since ( 44 hours * 60 minutes ) / 866 sessions = about 3 minutes per session on average. Seems like a lot though.

I wonder what my first machine said—I started in summer 2003 and have been dedicated to the thing from the start.

Thanks to a packing screw-up, I missed 3 days this week. But before that, I'd only missed 4 other days in over 6 years. And I must be lucky, because I've never had a problem getting to sleep, feeling claustrophobic, or knocking things off during the night. I had a problem once with the skin on the bridge of my nose, but switched to a Mirage Swift mask and have been happy ever after. I get 6-8 hours of CPAP every single night and I love it.
