I recieved my Aura on Sunday - and what with postage and taxes, payed something like $250 for it .
I have just had a wonderful, leakless nap with it, after two very very leaky nights - especially on my side. And I'll try to explain how I did it
Basicall, there are
two places where you can control the adjustment, on what Aeiomed call the adjustment bar.
Look at the top of the Headgear. Those two cream colored curved pieces of plastic tracks have slots in them - and they can move back and forth.
That wasn't enough.
Fiddled (a bit) with the metal supports - nothing doing.
I tried a panty hose quivalent (thin silk neckerchief) - not enough.
Looked at the thing in frustration, and noticed that the front, just where you connect the nasal seal also has slots (page 4 of the instruction booklet, the "seal connector"). And that seal connector- black in the photo - is transparent in real life.
It wouldn't budge. But when you look at it carefully, you see this little V shaped metal piece wedged into the slot.
Which convinced me that though it wouldn't budge at first - it should.
So, I disconnected the nasal seal.
Made sure the hose coming from the top had some slack, and pulled. Carefully, to make sure nothing broke, but with conviction.
And it moved. So after pulling it down, I pushed it up, all the way to where it is breaked by two small plastic bumps.
Eureka!
With the nasal seal in the right relationship to the the lockbox, it was like magic.
One Aura, no extra straps, one hour's nap, no leaks. None, on either side.
I think that out of the box the Aura comes with the top pushed all the way in (R&R, see if pulling it out won't help you with the slipping strap problem) and the front somewhere it the middle, as pictured above. That placement was just too long for my face.
By the way, there was no way I could have done this pushing and pulling of the seal connector with the mask on my face - but it worked when I held it firmly in my hands.
I'll let you know tomorrow how the night went.
I don't remember anyone mentioning these possible adjustment points.
As for the inhale woosh - it's different from the Breeze's - but I don't feel it's noticeably "louder". I liked Lori's idea of thinking of the surf - there is something surflike about the sound.
