Since starting treatment I sleep without waking but still it is like a switch is flipped I am still waking at 6 hours whether I go down at 9 or 10 pm. I do not know if I am stuck here or if I will eventually change or I need to find a way to re-condition by body to sleep longer. I feel much better during the day much less tired.

When will I start sleeping longer
Re: When will I start sleeping longer
Some find that as they become used to to this new way of sleeping, that they do sleep longer each night. I found that 6 hours is about all I need to feel great. 6 hours of great sleep has replaced 8-10 hours of disrupted sleep. I did sleep a bit longer for a while in the beginning, but have gone back to the 6 hrs. If you allow yourself the extra hours, I think your body will settle in after a while.

Re: When will I start sleeping longer
I have found if I stay in bed I will eventually drift off again but only for very short periods and after 2 or 3 of these I get up and really feel groggy so I do not try to force myself I just get up now.
Re: When will I start sleeping longer
Cotech, I found that I was in bed about the same amount of time afterward as before. Then once I started waking up in the am feeling great and full of energy I was crashing at night. I would start to feel sleepy around 7 or so, sometimes a little earlier or later. At one point for nearly a month I was fighting to stay awake and not go to bed before 8pm and I was still sleeping until around 5:30 am. Several months later I am doing much better and not getting so tired early on in the eventing. I do attribute it to successful treatment of OSA. First off, I was beginning to forget what it was like to be tired all the time. When I finally did get tired at night I was just doing what I had to in order to finish my stuff up and get in bed. I was enjoying my sleep now for the first time in many many years. Hey come to think about it I was only getting an hour more sleep than is recommended.
It just takes time as this is a big adjustment for your body.
