Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
Does a product like this even exist? If so, can anyone make a recommendation? If not, I'm going to invent one! Lisa

Respironics Optilife nasal pillows mask has an attached chin strap, if that's what you mean by "chip"....

Re: Nasal Pillow masks with attached chin strap?
Sorry. I did mean chin strap. These fingers of mine don't always hit the right keys! Thanks. Do you know if it works well?
Re: Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
On the Optilife that is not really a chin strap but rather, a mask stabalizer. It will not work the same as a chinstrap.

Re: Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
Thank you Hawthorne. I was going to order it because it does look like a chinstrap. Now I won't. I have the Swift LT for her that I really wish I could use, but a lot of air escapes through my mouth. The chinstraps I've tried have fallen off in the night. I'll just have to stick with the full face mask for now. Thanks, Lisa

It's not a chin strap, but it did work that way for me. It gave just a little bit of pressure under the chin--enough to make it easier to keep my mouth closed than to open it. I haven't used a chin strap with my new mask (Opus) though--I think I trained myself not to need it using the OptiLife.

Lisa,
I wonder, before you invent the combo, if you bought a chinstrap and wore it with your nasal pillow mask, if that would be helpful. Here is a URL to some of cpap.com's chin straps.

Re: Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried using the premium chin strap and for whatever reason, it just didn't work for me. In spite of making it very tight, my mouth would always find a way to open. What actually worked best for me is a product called "Chin-Ups" that I got at drugstore.com. It looks like a big bandaid in the shape of a wide U. It goes around the bottom of your lips and thenyou pull it up to your cheeks. The adhesive is great and it really does work. Unfortunately, I'm 57 years old with thinning skin and they were actually creating wrinkles at either side of my mouth, so I had to give them up. I've thought for a while that a nasal pillow mask with an attached chin strap would be the least intrusive and possibly not mess up my hair so much in the morning. I'll keep working on it. Thanks again. Lisa
Re: Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
Unless you have a microhead, I doubt the PAPcap would fall off because the chin strap is attached to an actual cap that covers your whole head. It works great for me.

Re: Nasal Pillow masks with attached chip strap?
I actually have a design for this product in my brain--hope to perfect it next year! The PAPCap works primarily from the top down; the new design will work from the bottom up (nothing touching above the chin) but it should reduce or eliminate mouth leaking..... I am excited about having the resources to get to this one....

I also use the Opti-life, and the stabilizer seems to work for me. I have not tried it with my chin strap that I use when I switch to other masks for a few nights just to change the pressure points on my nose.
