Thanks Brenda

I have been trying to be compliant and the minute the bedroom started cooling off the rain-out started. I have a fleece cover so now I guess I add the hose. I am using a HH, SOyala Nasal Mask, Pad a Cheeks, Pur-Sleep Clear, Papillow, Encore Pro Smartcard, ordred a CPAP CAP Plus and now the heated hose. I think that I have pretty much cornered the market as CPAP Accessories goes. I am waiting to see what the new mask from SomnoTech is like and may go with that. Time to auction off all my masks that have less than an hour on them!!!

All you need is a hose cover al the way to the mask and the Zoo Med Repti Heated Cable centered on the main hose: http://www.petmountain.com/show_product ... erm=507320

I found one at a local pet shop this weekend for $14. Unbelievable the difference breathing warm humidified air instead of cold humidified air with lots of rain out on only setting 2 (ResMed). How is it possible that they even sell even ONE humidified unit without this required piece of equipment (heated hose)?

Great idea victor, can i ask how long a cable do you use on a standard 6 foot hose?

Wow! what a great idea! How exactly do you "center" the coil on the hose? On top of the hose cover, I assume? Wrapped around it? Please describe in detail. I'm looking forward to this solution!!!! Thanks!

There is a blue mark on the heated cable that shows where the heat begins (~ 5.5' heated length). You simply run the cable straight down the 2 meter tube length, centering end to end, and zip the hose cover over the assembly. There is about a 6" section on either end of the hose that is not heated. No problem, works perfect.

Update: Still rains out some at 2.5+ which is too much humidity anyway.

Not my idea. Someone else’s on this forum. It works, it is cheap and available now.

Definitely cover the mask hose also.

Just wanted to share that I spent my first night with the Aussie heated hose last night ... sheer bliss. Yay!

It got here (Seattle) in less than a week from Australia (I now know there's a U.S. source). Worth every penny, at least to me.

And I'm intrigued by the lower-cost solutions here. May do that with my original hose, as a backup. Now that I'm completely "addicted" to this therapy (after just 10 days) I want backups for everything.

Thanks all!

Pam

There are a few ways you could use this heated cable.

You could wrap the cable around the hose between the existing ridged coil, like the copper cable on the aussie hose. Using some approximations here a 6 foot 1 inch diameter hose with say 5 coils per inch would require a 94 foot heated cable. (3.14 * 5 * 72 / 12) So from the product url above you would need to purchase 2 of the 50 foot hoses at a cost of $80. It would take a lot of work to wrap the hose and would making cleaning the hose more complicated.

Another way would be to simply run the heated cable up and down the hose so you would only need a 12 foot cable, I think I will try this along with my snuggle hose cover over the top.

The other night my hose was the coldest its been since i started on CPAP. The temp dropped down to 65 overnight and i had a a few ounces of water in my Quattro when i woke. I normally have my humidifier set to 2.5. Last night we turned the heating on and set the thermostat to 71 degrees and i got no rainout but i would ideally like to sleep with the thermostat set lower.
