dry skin/moisturizers a problem?
dry skin/moisturizers a problem?
I have been washing my face and not putting on moisturizer before putting on my mask according to the instructions and advice I have received. How do those of you who have dry skin handle this? It has only been two nights and my skin is already starting to flake. I have been using my "night" cream in the morning but it isn't enough. Will it really create problems in the seal if I put on moisturizer?

I use my moisturizer just the same as before CPAP. I do have nasal pillows not a full face mask so that might make a difference. Some people use the breastfeeding creme ( can't remember the name) to improve the seal of nasal pillows. This seems the same as having some moisturizer on your face. I'd just be sure to wash the mask good every morning.

Lamisol is the breast cream because it is pure lanolin. I am a ff mask wearer and have dry skin so I use the rmzzzz liners that you can buy on line and that protects the mask for all the ingredients that can break down the silcone seal.

I use a vitamin C serum (no oil) everywhere the silicon doesn't touch. Come colder weather, I will top with an alphi-lipoic+green tea+vitamin E moisturizer in the same areas. I use a lip balm nightly. I use both of those after washing in the morning under a photo-finish primer and foundation.
Last week or so, I've been exfoliating with half a grape rubbed all over my skin & eyelids (over makeup) then letting it sit for 3 mins before washing my face at night; I do not use makeup removers or toners, I wash with DermaE's Papaya-Soy Facial Wash which removes all makeup except waterproof mascara.
I also drink 80-100 ozs of water/herbal teas daily as dehydration shows up in dry, flaky skin. Recently, my thyroid's gone wonky again so dry skin is an ongoing issue so my daily water is essential as are healthy fats so I add 2-3 ozs of Thai Kitchen's premium coconut oil to my morning high-protein breakfast shake...seems to be working for me. No dry, irritated, flaky skin.

I still use my moisturizer at night but generally don't go right to bed and putting my mask on. By the time I put my mask on, it's entirely absorbed in and dried and I don't really have any problem.
