New user here that uses a ResMed Escape II with humidifier....when I got my unit I was told that I needed to dump the residual distilled water in the humidifier on a daily basis. Question here is this realistic and why? My thinking is distilled water is distilled water and if such is heated slightly why couldn't I just add to existing leftover water.
Also one thing I did was to measure the amount of water with a kitchen measuring cup before using the CPAP one night and then after the night's use I dumped the residual water back into the measuring cup to figure just how much was used overnight (about a little over a cup). On sub;sequent CPAP usage I have used a little more distilled water than I the cup I measured rather than fill to the humidifier fill line - my findings were that I just needed about half of the humidifier fill line capacity.

Lots of Distilled Water discussions on this forum. Have you tried going up to the top of the page right under "New Users" - try the "Advanced Search" or even use Google. Some may answer your questions or bring up even more ?

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?

Re: Distilled Water Situation
Hi,
You probably want to dump the water on a regular basis and clean the water tank. You don't want stuff growing in there, and you especially don't want to breathe any green biologicals into your lungs if you can help it.

Re: Distilled Water Situation
Lots of discussion about what is done with water, which water, how to clean, not to clean, etc. Search the forum for various threads.
Opinions range from one end of the spectrum to the other. All boils down to what you are comfortable with.
I just top off the distilled water and if I happen to think about it, I dump the tank and let it air dry. Others clean it meticulously every morning with various cleaning agents from tap water to vinegar solution. I have yet to see anything growing or any film or any mineral deposits in my tank so I opted for the "do nothing" approach.
