Huge airflow out vents in mask and vents at elbow

Post by BarryBlust » Thu Oct 29, 2009 8:30 pm

Hello gang! I use an Autoset spirit ll (Resmed), and Mirage full face mask (large). My problem is that the air flow is so great that it blows not only out the mask vents but also out the vents at the elbow near the hose fitting. The pressure is so great it can blow up my mouth. Feels like something is very wrong. Any hints?

Barry,

What are your prescribed pressure levels? Has it always been doing this, or is this something that just started happening? Can you look at the display on your machine and read off the pressure levels, your AHI, and your leak numbers? Without a little more info, it is really hard to even guess at what is going wrong.

The high setting is 17.8... low is 7. Not sure where to find the mask leak data. This problem occurred actually during the sleep study a few months ago... I discovered the machine was set for nasal and reset it for full face mask and the problem went away. Now it is back. The pressure so great the mask actually flutters off my face. Hope this information helps.

Thanks,

Barry

It looks like you're using the QuattroFF mask. There is a known flaw in the elbow connection with this mask. Put the words "teflon fix" in the Search box and you'll find out how to fix this problem. Good luck, Dori
