I believe my pressure should be lower on my sides and stomach.
I would like to know how you prevented yourself from sleeping on your back when you 1st fell asleep on your sides or stomach.

If their is a way to train yourself not to roll over on your back in the middle of the night, I will try it for sure.

mboy,

For 15 months, I wore a Camelbak hydration pack similar to the one in this link: http://www.camelbak.com/sports-recreati ... assic.aspx . I did not put water in it, but instead stuffed an empty rigid waterbottle into the bladder. This made it nearly impossible to roll onto my back. After 15 months I was trained well enough that I could go without the bottle and still stay off my side. Occasionally I would wear the pack for a couple of nights to reinforce my training. I was a lifelong back sleeper and this gave me a strong urge to roll onto my back. If your urge is less ingrained, you may be able to train yourself in much less than 15 months.

Later I converted to tummy sleeping and found it is great for my back and eliminated my CPAP-induced aerophagia. See Dr. Falcon's post including photos of how to sleep on the tummy in the "Falcon position": viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36738&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15.

All of this was a challenge but well worth the effort as my apnea is severe and I am glad to have it under control now.

Regards,
Rooster

Since you are discussing back-sleeping.... I'll share my homemade contraption that I used for a few weeks before starting CPAP. It looks a little silly, but it did keep me from rolling onto my back during the night, when my apnea/hypopnea events occur more often.

I cut a hole in the bottom of a tube sock, guided an old belt through the sock, put in two tennis balls, and secured the tennis balls in place with three rubber bands. I wore it wrapped around my upper body, just under my armpits, with the tennis balls on my upper back. Another position may work better for someone else. Worked great!

I have seen a slicker commercial version, but this one didn't cost me anything since I had all the materials. I hope this helps someone!

I hope all goes well for you, mboy. There is a lot of good information and helpful people on this forum! I think we're in the right place.

Get me a cucumber and I'm off to the dance.

Very funny, rooster! There have been a few jokes made around here too! I did think twice about posting that picture. But I thought, "Well, if it helps just one person...." Perhaps a different photo angle would've been less provocative, but it wouldn't have shown the detail as well.

All good stuff thanks.

Looks like I am getting new masks (Mirage Ultra and Quattro) and will rig up something for myself to prevent me from rolling over in middle of night

I will update on my progress.

Thanks.
