5 Month Mark

Post by SleepyT » Wed Oct 21, 2009 11:19 am

Well, Fellow Warriors, it has been 5 months as of last night since I joined you on this journey. It feels like I've been here a long, long time! I imagine I'm since classified as a newbie...but it doesn't feel that way. Not sure what that means!

Still pulling newbie stunts though! I bought a bed wedge pillow and tried it out last night. Got it all set up..placed my other pillows on top and laid back to get situated...and the next thing I know...I'm waking up at 2AM...with no mask on my face! Oops! Didn't mean for that to happen! I promptly put my mask on and went back to sleep! Guess I can safely say those wedge pillow thingees are comfortable!

So many folks talk about watching for trends...and not getting worked up about day to day AHI numbers. I see the value in that. My overall AHI from May 20 to Oct. 20, 2009 is 2.66. But for the last month (from Sept. 20 to Oct. 20), my AHI is 1.4. It is moving in the right direction! And that is all that matters!

Onward and upward!

Congratulations Sleepy T! Well, the thing about being a newbie, is there is always someone newer than you. I'm on my 4th night, and find posts from others who are on their 1st night, or haven't got their equipment yet.

I don't know when we get to graduate out of newbie status, but everyone is very kind to newbies, so I don't want to get pushed out of the nest.

Good point, Katie. Maybe I'll just be contented in my newbie status!

I remember SleepyT you started about a month after me. Your AHI numbers are fantastic especially with a Resmed machine. I hope you are actually feeling better also.

I'm lucky to get an AHI under 5 so i'm very jealous

I would love an AHI of <2 all the time!

There was a little stretch I had for a while with 0.0-0.1 apnea events per night. That was awesome. I felt so great. My HI is almost always in the 2-3 range. Oh well, as long as I feel better.
Sleep well and live better!

Anyone with an AHI less than 3 can't be a newbie. Seriously, your numbers are great. But more importantly, how are you feeling?

I'm at 3 month mark. Still playing bait and switch with masks. Revisited the Quattro last night for the first time since week 1 on CPAP. Woke up after 3 hours with a horrible headache and nice nose souveneer but low leakage of 0.04 L/sec. So switched back to Activia in the middle of the night. I know I'll find the mask of my dreams at some point. (I found my wife, I'll find a mask.)

Thanks for all the responses! I appreciate that! Feeling much better, in answer to your questions ...not back to the old me yet...but getting there! Be glad when the brain fog and depression is entirely gone.... But it's all good! I just keep moving forward...better and better every day!

Katie,

The first time you wake up and say to yourself that you feel really good, then you know you have graduated. I had one of those nights last night where I slept like a rock for 7 hours & I woke up ready to change the world. I would have never thought that was possible a year ago.
