Dori, I take Coromega, which is a flavored gel form that really easy to digest. I'm partial to the orange as it reminds me of the orangsicles of my childhood while my mom prefers the stronger flavored lemon-lime. There's also a chocolate-orange but I hafta admit being a dark chocolate-lover that it doesn't work for me.

Oops, glad you're watching out for me Muse. I'll check out Coromega, I know it's important, as my Dr is not a great believer in supplements but he does recommend Omegas , Calcium Citrate,Vit.D/magnesium.

Because the quality of ResMed pillows seem to be in question lately, and mine have started to wear out and I'm due for new pillows in a week or two, I decided to switch from Medium to Large to see if I could get a better seal. I was afraid the Large would be too big, since I have a smallish nose. My nares don't hurt at all.

Moreover, I get less leaks when I let my head press into my pillow, and I feel like I'm getting much more air into my nose (easier to breathe). When I get home I have to remember to check and see about the numbering on the pillow for the Large, because it seems stiffer/thicker than the Mediums.

Two nights in a row now I've had an AI of 0.0! Let's see if this trend continues!

Boy, did I have an anomaly last night!

Some factors may have contributed:
  • Had to work Sunday, which is unusual.
  • Was more physically tired than usual.
  • In a bad digestive cycle.
  • Wife and I had a little spat (nothing major).
LAST NIGHT'S NUMBERS
Hours: Approx. 8
Pressure: 14.0
Leaks: 0.00 L/s
AHI: 5.7
AI: 0.9
HI: 4.8

With those numbers, I must have ended up on my back or something. I do remember dreaming a lot and very intense (no suffocation dreams). Coincidentally, my nasal pillows are in dire need of replacing and my DME is out of stock (unusual).

Overall today I don't feel THAT bad. A bit tired with some palpitations but I really think my body is able to handle and bounce back from a bad night or two better than it has.

Honey, not a single one of those numbers look like "a bad night" at all. They all look like a GREAT night of treatment with CPAP doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

If you don't feel as fantastic as usual, I'd attribute that to other factors, but not to a "bad CPAP night." You had a GREAT CPAP night, as usual. You've done a wonderful job getting your CPAP therapy going right.

An AI index of 0.9 for an 8 hour night is as good as 0.0, imho.

That leak rate of 0.0 is ideal.

I hear what you are saying RG, and it's good to see you on here!, but I do desat easily. For me, an AI above 0.3 (maybe 0.4) or an HI above 4.0, and I can really feel it the next day. I don't doubt that other factors should be considered, I'm just sayin'...

Your data is great though, as Rested Gal said! The things you described that made it a "less that ideal" night are most likely what is making you feel "not so great" today.

Looks like your cpap machine didn't notice any of that and just did a great job for you!

My Mondays are always bad after a busy weekend. Saturday i took my kids to soccer tots, over seeded my lawn the with winter grass then went on a 25 mile bike ride.
Then Sunday I get to look after after a 3 & 4 year old all day Sunday while the wife works a 12 hour shift at the childrens hospital.
I make things slightly worse by having alcohol after putting them to bed around 8pm.

So my last night (approx 8 hours) my leak was 0.0, AHI was 34.0 with an AI of 1.6

Good to hear your anxiety is less of an issue, I am listening to that Clair Weekes audio book and will probably buy the book on my next Amazon purchase.

So sorry for your loss.

You've made an interesting observation, that another important variable in our CPAP therapy, is also how we're feeling, and what's going on in our lives. I know I've been so tuned into my AHI and leakage rates, that I haven't taken that into account.

Holy moly! AHI of 34?

My anxiety issues are definitely less. I take 1/4 of a 0.5 mg Klonopin (0.125mg prn/as needed) about 2 times a week, and that seems to keep everything in check (along with my therapy).

Claire Weekes' book was a HUGE stepping stone for me.

Thanks, Gary. It really is super easy, especially at the beginning, to get caught up in the numbers to the exclusion of other environmental factors. I've had mornings with GREAT numbers and felt like a steaming pile that day. Go figure!

I totally forgot that I had a good amount of Diet Coke a few hours before bed with dinner! Something I hardly EVER EVERY drink: caffeine AND aspartame.

I just tell myself that its just a number, I actually don't feel that bad today.

As long as i get a zero leak i'm trying not to over obsess over the numbers, especially the HIs. Its good to see my APAP taking care of any AIs making sure that they don't last longer than 10-12 secs. For me it seems five AIs of 10 secs is better than two of 25 secs.

Xanax is still my friend but only half a pill one morning a week to help me through a meeting. Luckily the drug seems to be out of my system by early evening.

Not to mention the phosphoric acid in addition to the caffeine will do a number on you if you've got GERD.

Kenny, as you've often said yourself, "one night does not a trend make", remember? You've really answered your own questions, work schedule, beverage of choice, some digestive problems and the little spat. Listen to RG and make sure you buy your wife some flowers! Dori
