You might also consider getting a saline spray or Ayr nasal gel, if you experience any nasal discomfort.

Well, I tried using the Liberty that the doctor gave me this afternoon. I found it very hard to breath through my nose with them. Tried moving into various sleeping positions but just could not breath. After about an hour, I had to take the mask off and noticed that both my nostrils were totally stuffed up. Had to go downstairs and try to flush my sinuess out with the neti pot and some saline solution. I do have bad allergies which can make both my nasal passages to be stuffed up. I guess it is not the Liberty's fault as it would work if I was not so stuffed up.

Not too sure what to do as I had to sleep with them not attached. Might have to go back to the doctor Monday to try the Fisher Paykel full face mask. Part of me is thinking that I need to see an ENT and find other solutions rather than use CPAP.

Sorry to read, you having difficulties with the Quattro. Hope you can find a mask that works for you. I love the Quattro mask, it's super comfortable and I rarely have leaks. I wear my mask slightly loose, the weight of the mask, feels like it will fall off my face, in sitting position. Once I lay down, and reach max pressure, I began to tighten the nasal bridge, once the leak stops, I turn back 1/2 notch.

The mask is very flexible, and moves as I turn my head on the pillow, no leaks, sometimes I can feel the mask shift left or right, I think the problem most people are having is they wear thier mask too tight, believing it will prevent leaks, but the theory is, air pressure seals the mask, so I adjust my headstraps accordingly, at full pressure, once air pressure stops, mask feels loose.

Good luck fitting a mask.

I am going to repost what I wrote in your other thread because I feel strongly this may be your problem:
millich wrote:As kteague said, it's unlikely that 2.5 is your ramp pressure but if your ramp pressure is low, that explains why you feel you are suffocating. YOU NEED TO BUMP UP YOUR RAMP PRESSURE TO AT LEAST 6 (7 or even 8 may be better). Without enough air flow - especially through nasal pillows - you won't be comfortable. It ain't gonna happen.

In addition, starting with a low ramp means you are experiencing a wide swing in pressure such that it makes 9 feel too high. Raising your ramp will also take care of that.

Thanks for the info. With regards to my ramp being at 2.5. My machine when turned on will not do the ramp unless I press the ramp button. It always defaults to my main pressure of 9. I did try the ramp button which lowered it down to 2.5 and I agree that it can't be used when using the nasal pillows.

Tonight, I am going to try the Liberty again. I have just flushed out my sinuses with a net pot which gets rid of the junk. Also, this morning, I took a dose of Veramyst which my doctor gave me a trial for. On the internet, some people recommend that you try the mask while watching TV so as to get used to it. I might try that later in the evening and see how that goes.

Another thing to beware with masks is being given the "standard" size--whatever normally comes out of the bag may not be the right size, but is often what you will be given.

For the ResMeds, you may want to check the fitting templates here:

Thanks for the input. I had already checked my face against the template. It showed me on the near the medium size which is the one they gave me.
