Which Auto PAP is best ? Why do you like It ? If you had to buy it again would you ? Or choose something else.

I like my Resmed Spirit. It is big and manly like me. It is very quiet also. I can get information about my sleep just by pushing a few buttons and its displayed on the screen. No need for a computer. The humidifier attatches easily and becomes part of the Spirit. It is easy to fill with water. just slide out the tank and take it to the sink. I looks very manly sitting next to my bed. Like a photon torpedo from Star Trek. The large buttons are easy to push. they are lighted to see in the dark. It has auto start.
Thats all I have to say about that

Learning to...
Silly guy! It's only AFTER we've had ample sleep therapy that we finally begin to restore our cognitive plasticities toward learning to spell!Anonymous wrote:Let's learn to spell first

it's a worry that I am using resmed autoset spirit and someone just mentioned it is not suitable for his breathing
i cannot find any cpap shop that would allow me to hire the machine at a reasonable price in australia
i may buy all of them to try
the only reason that would stop me from doing this right away is I may end up with too many models at home and then you need to get updated models all the time too in the future

Spirit Set Up
Businessman, how does your Spirit overnight data look? Do you have a high AI or HI?
Do you also have a competent therapist who can help make sure your Spirit pressure range and other settings are all set up correctly for you?

Fixed Pressure
Businessman, an additional thought... If the Spirit's algorithm does not seem to suit you, you can always try running that machine at a fixed pressure. AutoSet algorithms and their compatibility will thus be removed from the equation.
Unfortunately, some patients just can't sleep comfortably at fixed pressures---especially when they are high.

RemStar Auto
Irving, I have only slept with a RemStar Plus and a RemStar Auto (both without C-Flex). I do sleep more comfortably with the RemStar Auto (very comfortably, in fact) than I did with the RemStar Plus. From a subjective and first-hand viewpoint the RemStar Auto is a real winner for me.
I do read posts, manufactuer documentation, and even patents relative to all the current AutoPAPs, just because it fascinates me as an engineer. From a non-first-hand viewpoint I think the three AutoPAPs mentioned in this thread are each superb examples if biomedical technology. All three are guaranteed to be incompatible with a slim percentage of OSA patients, however, for a variety of reason.

best auto cpap
sws! changed my name cos not to cause any stereotyping of being a greedy and heartless person. I am actually not in the business of business.
many thanks
I am my own therapist trying to navigate this difficult problem, learned a lot from nice peole like you in the forum.
my ahi 5-10, ai 2-3
reading other postings, ?others have better results
my 95th is about 12, I wondered this is actually my fixed pressure settings.
I actually tried different settings:
5-15, results as above
5-10, more sleep apnoea
5-12, feeling less easy to start cos of low pressure
5, shocking apnoea, went over the limit
7.2 -12.6, more pressure to start with and then just high enough to stop apnoea
I had too much condensation in my hose one night and then the pressure went up to 15 right away and I can feel some discomfort in my eardrum. So I thought I would set it just enough to treat myself and now I actually set my settling time to 10 mintues.
I am keen to try 420e and remstar auto to test the different algorithms. Read this nice post on heated hose much better to avoid condensation and I bought one for A$159 today. ?A lot cheaper in the sates then oz. Just saw the patent label on the hose. May be you can come up with a better one.
many thanks
