Cleaning Humidifier

Post by headbored » Fri Oct 02, 2009 8:09 am

As a newbie I have been reading the pros and cons of cleaning the humidifier and after 2 months decided to clean mine.Although not visable from the outside once taken apart I noticed the inside was getting slimy although faint it was still there!I have only been using distilled water and empting and refilling daily.Needless to say I will be cleaning my humidifier weekly.

I have always cleaned mine every week. I used to empty the distilled water and then refill it every day, but now only add more water each day, and then just clean it once a week.

Just put some hot water in the humidifier, drop a Polident Denture Cleansing tablet in it and let it set for awhile. Then shake it good to slosh the water around, empty and rinse. If you like you can use some vinegar in the rinse water, then rinse again.

Slinky,
Even though my HH has never been slimy and I only clean it every so often (about every 4 months, just to be on the safe side), I usually just use hot water and Ivory dishwashing liquid
Your a Genius, thanks, I never thought to use a polident tablet, I have plenty of those on hand, lol! Great idea...
Thanks
