Brand spankin new.......help me.............
Just received my Bpap machine yesterday and could only keep in on 4 hours last night. I know nothing about central sleep apnea but plan on reading here. My pressures are supposed to be very high. The machine they gave me is marked Resmed vpap III st-a and there is a humidifier attached also no name on it. The mask is a full face resmed. Is this good equipment.....had trouble every 1/2 hour with minor leaks. Thanks
ResMed Elite III-A w/ Humidifier ,no data yet :>(

Welcome to your new life! You have come to the right place. Brimming with veterans and newcomers alike.
You will do great. New arrivals are generally asked to register and input the equipment they are using.

Welcome aboard! Four hours the first night ain't bad...
And, yes, you have quality equipment. BiPAP is the standard solution for pressures over 20cm. But you'll learn all about that during your journey to good sleep.
A good place to start is the Lightbulb above labelled "Our Wisdom" (if you haven't found it already). It's an index of topics commonly discussed here. Keep in mind it's all written by us amateurs...but the good news is, many know more than a lot of the professionals! (he said modestly...)

The OSA patient died quietly in his sleep.
Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

And put in the actual model name of your mask - Resmed makes many of them. Thx.

Hello & Welcome, mickeyblueyes! Glad you found this forum—SO much useful info and everyone here is so willing to help!
You're lucky to have found this forum as you begin CPAP—took me almost year before I found this place and, with the help of folks here, got my CPAP therapy working as it should. It does take time to get everything tweaked and working at its best, so patience is key as one begins CPAP.

What pressure levels are you at? I use BiPAP at 13/20. Trying to get a mask seal and still be comfortable at a higher pressure level is a real trick. I picked up a lot of tips here, and I have a small mask graveyard full of failed experiments. Now that I am used to breathing with the machine, it feels natural. I haven't even used the ramp feature in several months. I know that it looks different to a person when they are first getting started, but you will figure this stuff out and do well over the long run.
