Made my hose stand "by Craig" but used copper tubing like Linus. Sure is snazzy! I did make a change using 2 key chains with "spring like telephone cording". These hang over the end, instead of the tubing sliding or not- the springs add more flexibility. (Our kids don't know what an old telephone cord is. They are of the no cord generation.) This hose stand is the best thing sence sliced bread!
My next question is about the clinical menus. I can get to the ResMed site as a professional but still cannot access the clinician menu.
any help? Thought maybe my model does not have all of the settings or options that you all have the manuels for. I can get into the "clinician" area on my S8 Escape II but there are no options. All I can get to is Language, date, time & CPAP pressure. Would really like leak info, smart start (which does not work) & reminders.

Re: Hose Control & S8 Escape II manuel
The Escape II only has hours of use available. There is no leak info available, no AHI, no HI, no nothing.RNRicky wrote:Thought maybe my model does not have all of the settings or options that you all have the manuels for. SmartStart may have something to do with Leak alert or certain mask selection. I don't have ResMed machine but I have read that if the Leak Alert is on or off (I forget which) then the Smart Start won't work.

Re: Hose Control & S8 Escape II manuel
Pugsy is correct. The Resmed S8 Escape II w/EPR is compliance data capable only. It is NOT capable of producing any useful (to you or your sleep doctor) data. If you have had it less than 30 days and got it from a local DME supplier TAKE IT BACK and INSIST on the Resmed S8 Elite II w/EPR. The Elite uses all the same equipment, humidifier, hoses, filters, etc. as the Escape II BUT the Elite is fully data capable.
You might want to call your insurance company to find out what local DME CPAP suppliers they are contracted with. Hopefully you have the option of more than this one as that gives you more bargaining/negotiating room.
Don't let them hand you any horsepuckies about your having to pay extra or that your insurance won't pay for the Elite II. Most all insurance pay be insurance (HCPCS) code NOT by brand and model. Both the Resmed S8 Escape II AND the Resmed S8 Elite II are the exact same HCPCS code: e0601.

Re: Hose Control & S8 Escape II manuel
Thank for the info, Slinky. I have been on CPAP for 74 days so I don't know how far I'll get. Who decides what machiene you get? My ENT sure did not! Have not been able to get to the sleep MD. This site should be required before getting any equipment.
Re: Hose Control & S8 Escape II manuel
In most cases, BECAUSE we patients haven't a clue as to what is going on and mistakenly rely on our sleep doctors who have little to no clue about the CPAPs either, it is the local DME supplier who decides what CPAP we are provided with AND it is to THEIR benefit to provide us w/the cheapest CPAP that fits the sleep doctor's prescription. That prescription seldom indicates more than CPAP, pressure setting, maybe Ramp and maybe exhalation pressure relief and usually a heated humidifier. I have yet to read in any of these apnea support forums of anyone in the USA being given an option of what brand and model CPAP they would like to have or the opportunity to try a couple of different models out before "buying".
There is the possibilty that another local DME supplier would provide you with the Resmed S8 Elite II w/EPR IF you will agree to pay (upfront) the two months rent your insurance has already paid to your current DME supplier. Your insurance is NOT going to make two extra payments over what your benefits allow. You might almost be better off as soon as you can buying an Elite or Elite II online and keeping the Escape II as a backup/travel device if you were thinking of going that route. It might be worth at least investigating this route BEFORE any more monthly payments go by. It all depends on how much info YOU want and need regarding your therapy and your financial situation.
In the past I've purchased a lightly used AutoSet Vantage from a fellow forum member, a brand new Respironics pre-M series Auto online and a lightly used Respironics pre-M Series Bi-PAP Auto on cpapauction. NOT because I like the Respironics devices as well as my Resmeds but because they were the best buy I could find at the time. In fact, I bought the lightly used AutoSet Vantage to replace the Respironics Auto because I found the amount of data available via the Respironics LCD disappointing and the access method a PITA after the ease of access w/the Resmeds AND because I really did not like the Respironics EncorePro software as well as I did the Resmed AutoScan and later ResScan software. I found the Resmed software easier to install and use than the Respironics software even w/the addition of the MyEncore and EncoreAnalyzer freeware to enhance EncorePro. My preference has NOTHING to do w/the quality of the therapy and everything to do w/ease of access and amount of data available via the LCD screen.
