Thanks.
I am aware of the news thread.
I did a lot of web searches and could not find anybody who actually got one. I am curious to hear the experience first-hand from somebody who got this implant. Frankly I am quite worried about the surgery. It seems both Apnex and Inspire will have to open the chest at several places (to implant a network of wires and sensors). What will happen if a patient with such implant suffers from hiccups/cough/sneeze ???? Wont Pressure sensors be fired as a result and burn the nerve!!!!
Sounds scary!!!!!! .
Is there any other company which is simple and does'nt open the chest or implant sensors?
Thanks again.

This from a February 26 article at Bio-Medicine.org newsletter http://www.bio-medicine.org/medicine-ne ... a-37841-1/

"Inspire medical systems collaborated with Paul Van de Heyning, M.D., professor of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck surgery and Wilfried De Backer, M.D., professor of Respiratory Medicine both at the University Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium for the first patient implant as part of the inspire II clinical study. The company has also received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration."

Thanks.
In other words they have not started human trials as yet. The whole concept of the device sounds too cool. Does anybody know it works or will work?
Any idea how much is the cost of such device? Must be expensive.

Hi Cpap users,
Just heard a very good news.
A san diego based company appeared from nowhere claiming to have developed a very neat and simple neuro-stimulation device.
cnbc (id: 32984322) or imtheramedical.
Looks much simpler (perhaps inexpensive also) then apnex or inspire.

Does any body know more about Imthera's technology? It seems that their device has no wires or sensors. What do they mean by a continuous? Will it be active the whole night?
