Resmed Card Reader Skipping days

Post by spookydoo » Thu Sep 17, 2009 8:58 pm

Anybody know why my Resmed Card Reader is skipping days lately? It will give me reports on two days, skip one, record one day, then skip three, etc. I have 5 months of data downloaded and I thought it could hold a year. I got a new card from CPAP.com but didn't replace the card reader. So, is it the card reader? It couldn't be the card, I just replaced that. Could it be the software? I've never had a problem with it until the last two weeks.

How often do you transfer data from the machine to your PC?

I found with the ResScan software it depends what time you turn on the machine, before or after midnight.

Also you have to copy to the smartcard before noon hour (12:00pm) or the machine advances into the next cycle.

The Statistics .pdf file will have the report information I requested as e.g. 2009-09-13 - 2009-09-15
but the Summary Graphs will go from 2009-09-14 - 2009-09-16 in the same .pdf file.

In ResScan,I always check the View and select Browser so I am able to see the "data dates" I have just downloaded.

Sometimes it seems as if days are missing but if I correlate the summary graphs with the data browser in the left side window,I can verify the current download visually.

I always download on Wednesday morning and Sunday morning and never had a problem, over a year now.

You copy data daily before noon from the blower and then download to your PC immediately without success?

I don't think you have to copy the data to the card before 12 noon. If you want to read your data from the screen on your ResMed machine, you have to do this before 12 noon, otherwise it will clear itself. I copy data to my card and will get all the data that is new and this can be days worth. I wonder if it's your card. I've never had a problem, so far, getting my data to read out.

It happened with the new card as well as the old card. I too have noticed that if I wait later in the day that I miss the data. I have never tried waiting a few days to copy the data. Does the data stay in the memory of the machine or just the card?

The Resmeds hold the data. You only have to insert the card when you want to do a download unlike the Respironics where the card has to be in the xPAP whilst in use.

Did you check the dates in your software when you do a download?? If you download to the card after noon that day will come up blank - but - that night's data is still there in its entirety. So if you download after noon on the 20th, it is the 19th's data that is what you are downloading whereas if you download before noon the software won't have that blank day for the 20th yet.

I should clarify this by saying that the S8 II will overwrite data one day from the back end,if you copy to the smart card after 12:00pm and the card is full.

This is why I do not go past four sessions,to be sure I always capture the data, even though it holds five.

Since you have the S8 II you must be using ResScan 3.7.

When you download from card to software, to the right when the download box comes up is Select or the Default in the Data box is Summary Data Only. Do you click on the Select box to the right?

When the Select Data box comes up you have the choice of All Available Data or Selected Data. If you click on Selected Data then you can also click on Selected Detailed Data Sessions. If you do click on Selected Detailed Data Sessions then you also have the option of how many Most Recent Detailed Data Sessions which then gives you the option of one, two, five days, two weeks, three weeks or all. Below that you have the option of selecting Include High Rate Data Such As Flow (If Available). Make your selection and click on Okay.

That takes you back to the Download box. Select Start Download. That will tell you how many nights of Summary Data was downloaded. And however many sessions of Detailed Data you selected for download.

Assuming you are adding to previous nights' data for a month or however long, a box will pop up Duplicated Found In Downloaded Data. It will ask do you wish to OVERWRITE Existing Data or DISCARD Downoaded Data for All Downloaded Duplicate Sessions??

IF you have blank data for some nights that you used your xPAP select Overwrite. However, if all your nights have the data then you would select Discard.

I'm taking a guess this is where you may be making a mistake and thus getting some nights w/o data.
