Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
Re: Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
The funny thing is that at work, where I also use IE, I'm logged in automatically and it works fine. But at home on either of my two computers, forget it.

Re: Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
I set my default browser as Chrome so that' s what opens when I click on a link. I can still use IE for everything else by just clicking on the IE icon. As I noted earlier in this thread, I don't think it's the webmaster's problem ... most likely Microsoft.frapilu wrote:
I like IE. I don't want to have to use foxfire (or whatever it's called) or safari or anything else. Besides, when I click on the link in an email telling me that something has been posted on a thread I'm interested in, an IE window opens, not a safari one or anything else.

Re: Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
Never heard of Chrome. The only reason I have Safari around is it's what I have to use for my iPod Touch calendar and contacts using MobileMe.com. It won't work at all with IE (of course, it's Apple-based). I used to use a Palm and I loved it, went through different versions over the years since the 1990's but now they just have fancy cell phone PDA's and I don't want to go there (that's also why I don't have an iPhone -- just can't afford that high of cell phone rates). So I have Safari for my iPod Touch and cpaptalk.com and I use IE for anything else. I suppose it's a Windows thing although I don't understand why IE works with cpaptalk.com at work but not here. Hopefully it'll eventually get resolved, wherever the problem is. It means that I'm definitely not at cpaptalk.com as often.
Oh well, it'll get better

Re: Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
Chrome is Google's free browser.
The key here is to set your "default" browser. For any browser except IE: if you have Vista, go to the Start Menu and on the right-hand side, under "Control Panel", there's an entry for "Default Programs". Click on that and then select "Set your default programs" and follow the prompts.
If you have Vista at home and XP at work, that could explain why it works at work but not at home.

Chrome is my first choice of browser to use. I only use the others if I have to do so.mindy wrote:Chrome is Google's free browser.

Since last Friday, we have heard that many people have had issues with the forum resetting and logging people out when they just logged in, or refreshing to the same create account page. There also is a forum post going on this subject.

Re: Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
At work I use XP and cpaptalk.com works just fine. Here at home I have one PC with XP and one with Vista and neither work with cpaptalk.com. Sorry to be difficult but I don't want to set my default browser as anything other than IE because then links in other emails would also go to that other browser and I don't want that. I just don't come here often anymore. I test it when I do and if it doesn't work and if I really figure I'll want to post something, I call up Safari. Otherwise, I just lurk without being signed in. Eventually it will resolve itself, I hope.mindy wrote:Chrome is Google's free browser.

Re: Problems with Logging in or Creating Account
Good question. I'm at the laptop and yes, I'm using IE 8. I'm pretty sure the desktop PC downstairs is also IE8 but I'll check later. I'm off work today and tomorrow so I'll check Wednesday when I get back. Now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised if they were still at IE7 (presumably that's what was before IE8?). We're very behind with everything at work -- still using Office 2003 when the rest of the world is using Office 2007. Very good point. Thanks. I'll check.
