has anyone imported Rescan data across a network
I will be going on vacation in a few weeks and would like to import all my Rescan data from my laptop over to my netbook. I know you can't view the charts at their best at that resolution, but I'll be away about 5 weeks and the netbook is easier to take than my laptop.
I found the .csv files on the laptop. When I go to the netbook & try to import, I get as far as 'Network' but it won't let me get any deeper to select the files (or even see my laptop). I copied the exported data to a shared folder on the laptop but that's where it stays. At this point I may have to copy the files to an external drive and paste them somewhere else on the netbook & try to import from there.
Wondered if anyone else has done this.
BTW, both machines are Vista 32 bit.

Re: has anyone imported Rescan data across a network
The "import" and "export" functions of ResScan are not for the purpose you need. Import allows the "upload" into ResScan of data from the legacy AutoScan system, which stored data in a different format (.pat files). Export allows the "download" into Excel of selected demographic data, but not nightly detail data.
When you run ResScan, the nightly detail data is retained in .rlk files (think ResLink; the older S7 AutoScan stored ResLink data in files with this extension); I believe they are named yyyymmdd.rlk. I forget where they go by default - I redirect them to a different location - but I suspect that you will be able to find them in the Vista equivalent of Program Files / ResMed / ResScan3 / Patients. There may also be some .db files: Notes and PatientDetails and ClinicalData, and a Summary.dat.
As long as these files are retained, and you have ResScan on both machines, you should be able to move them from one computer to another. I don't know that it's essential, but it may be wise to move the .db and .dat files from your permanent machine to your portable, so that your "patient identifiers" are the same on both systems. But the key is the .rlk files.

Re: has anyone imported Rescan data across a network
Thanks for that info Velbor. I guess I misunderstood the meaning of export / import in this case. I finally found the .rlk files along with all the pdf reports created. In my system, they are stored in C>Users>Public>Public Documents>Resmed>ResScan3>Patients>MyName.
I couldn't figure out how to re-direct these files to another location, as I'd prefer to store them on the data drive instead of my C drive and also not in a Users Folder. Could you please help me out with that?
Also for my Netbook, I'd like to re-direct the data to a data drive as well. I never noticed it as an option in the software, but I will check it out again.

Velbor,
I have since found how to direct the data to a folder of my choice.

Re: has anyone imported Rescan data across a network
I keep all my documents pretty organized. I created a folder in My Documents labeled CPAP. There I have sub-folders for: my daily detail charts, 3 to a page in a Word doc; a sub-folder with Excel sheets of my daily stats of 1 page / month; a sub-folder for my PDF manuals, and now for the ResMed / ResScan data. The original was for me in Vista: c:Users>Public>Public Documents>Resmed>ResScan3>Patients>MyName. By default, that's where the software put it.Roeschti wrote:How did you do that?RMinOntario wrote: I have since found how to direct the data to a folder of my choice.
I then created another sub-folder in my CPAP folder called Resmed>ResScan3>Patients. Copy all the data from the original location to your new location under your name. Copy instead of move incase you mess up. This also brings over all your .pdf reports if you previously created them.
Open the ResScan software. Go to Tools at the top bar, select Patient Manager and change the patient group location to whatever your path is. Mine is 'D:\RM's Documents\CPAP\ResMed\ResScan3\Patients'. Create a new patient with your name (not all the statistical info, just the name). Hopefully, then you should be 'good to go'. I hope I didn't make this too confusing.

Re: has anyone imported Rescan data across a network
Since my XP laptop is not hooked up to my Vista desktop, when I want to transfer files from my Rescan app on one computer to the other computer, I will just go to my Google email account and click on compose an email and then click on attach a file. I will then attach all the files from the Rescan file that I want to transfer, to the email. I can either send the email or just save the email as a draft, once the files have loaded into the email, because either way, they will be uploaded to my Gmail account. Then when I am on my other computer, I can open Gmail account and download the files to my Rescan app on the other computer.

Am I missing something?
Wouldn't a USB memory stick as an intermediary be a lot simpler??

Re: has anyone imported Rescan data across a network
If I owned one, it would be easier. But now that I have my card reader working on my Vista computer, I don't have to use my laptop to read my card anymore. Now I can just read and keep all my Rescan info on my Vista computer.Velbor wrote:Am I missing something?
