You all look so good!!!! I had my son take a picture of me with my digital camera yesterday and NO LIE...the damn camera BROKE!!! Stop laughing!! I swear to God...it broke! I put the card in my printer and it said the card is damaged. Now I can't even get the camera to work. I changed the batteries and everything. I finally gave up. Did I mention that my iron ALSO broke yesterday...right before the camera. I had a frustrating afternoon yesterday. As soon as I can figure out how to get a picture of myself out there...I will do it.
Really...you can stop laughing now.

R&R,
Thought you may have had to evacuate tonight. I'm so glad you're still home (assumed so since you were on the site tonight).
I just posted a new thread to see how many people responded to your idea. You can read it if you want. I'm glad you didn't have to evacuate. Didn't get much chance to watch the news tonight, so I am hoping your presence on the site means you're not at risk from Rita. That would be great news!

Please go if they think you should. You know we all are keeping positive thoughts for your safety and that your home and property stays intact. Maybe the weatherman will be wrong, as they used to be all the time. Now when you want them to be...rock and roll wrote:Not yet I have not evacuated. I had to work today and then it took me hours to get home as so many are. Half of Houston is under mandatory and my area may be tomorrow. I will know after lunch. Most likely as it looks now I will.

Don't worry Linda....I'm laughing too! How many people can actually say their face broke their camera...it's too ridiculous. Now I have to figure out how to get a picture of myself out here on CPAP.com. But then again, maybe I shouldn't....maybe I'll also break CPAP.com......hmmmmm.....lindas88 wrote: Amy...you are having such a bad day...I can't help but laugh at the camera incident though...
Maybe I should wait until all this hurricane stuff is over...

Court reporter must be a tough job. I've been stuck with jury duty twice, once recently but didn't get a trial.
The first time I had jury duty I got a five day multiple-homicide trial (gang related drug deal turned into a shooting match). All went pretty smoothly until the suspect decided to testify. The guy sat up there and mumbled for the entire time he was on the stand. The poor reporter had to keep asking him to repeat stuff over and over. After the trial ended we got to talk to the judge and the lawyers for both sides. We got together and asked if we could see the court reporter. They brought her in and we gave her a standing ovation. I think we made her day.
Oh, and in case anyone is wondering, he and his four "associates" all went up for life, no chance for parole. The trial made the front page of the local paper and everything.

My father had the comb-over going for years until it got too thin to comb over anymore. My older brother was mostly bald by the time he turned 30. I think it was mostly his fault. He was always the vain one growing up so he was always bleaching his hair and using all the styling gells and what-not. Of course he never admitted to bleaching his hair, he was always "out in the sun a lot". Right. I'm sure all those chemicals had a lot to do with it falling out.
Myself, if I let it grow my hair is still thick where I've got it. I've got the widow's peaks going which get a little higher every year.
My father-in-law wore a wig right up until my wife and I got engaged. She told him in no uncertain terms that he would not be wearing a wig in our wedding pictures. Funny thing is he looked a lot better bald then he did with the wig.
That's a nice thing about keeping my hair short. As my hairline recedes more and more it looks intentional.
Wow about the person that used to cut your hair. If I had someone like that around here I probably would have gotten it cut every week.

When I had lost most of it on top, I decided there was no way I was vain enough to do a ridiculous comb-over (as if that fools anyone!) or even buy a rug (toupee), so I grabbed the razor and took it all off. I found it was much cooler inside my motorcycle helmet back when I was still riding.
Of course, I miss the person who used to do my hair. For almost 15 years I had a woman who would work topless because she couldn't stand to have hairs caught in her clothes prickling her. Darn, I miss that!
BTW, I echo other's sentiments; it really is wonderful to put faces to the names!

Snowdog,
What an wonderfully insightful and thoughtful group of people you all were. You don't know how nice it is to be recognized for one of the hardest professions out there. On a 20/20 show a few years back, we ranked as the #2 most stressful job in this country. This is one of the few jobs you can have your entire life and still walk in one day and feel like you only started yesterday. Like you said, get a witness who mumbles, or a doctor in a medical malpractice case whose name is spelled with 17 consonants in a row and when he spells it, you can't even understand that part of his testimony, let alone having him read from the medical records with words that are about three hundred syllables long, at 250 words per minutes, for you guys to give the reporter a standing ovation, I'm sure it made that day one of the nicest working days she's ever had, not to mention memorable. We are usually just looked at like part of the scenery, just there to do our job in the background. But for people to actually recognize how hard it is and to make it known to her in that fashion, well, all I can say is, she must have really appreciated that. For all reporters out there, thank you!
Amy,
LOL...you might break CPAP.com!!! Come on. You're just setting us up. I heard talk that you were a stand-in for Jessica Alba in her latest movie. DO YOU THINK WE THINK THAT AND WILL BE DISAPPOINTED??? PULEEZ! We just would love to see that smiling face of yours. I know, who am I to talk with no smile on my face. Hey, like I said, that was pre-therapy in last November when I didn't have the energy to even smile.
If you can scan a photo and send it to me, I will fix whatever needs to be fixed as far as pixels and send it back to you to post. If we all had the nerve to post our photos, you can, too. No more excusess. You must have at least ONE photo that you can use. I know I didn't have many as I always like to take them so I don't have to be in them. But as I get older, I realize I do want to be remembered regardless of how I feel I look. At least family will have something to look back on, even if they're laughing and making fun of my face...
We go by inner beauty on this site. We already all love you, so you won't scare us off no matter what. It's just all about seeing a face to go with a name when we write back and forth. Don't you like seeing the faces that have already been posted? I know I do. Okay. Enough pressure. I really don't mean to push. It's just part of my "charm."
