POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
Please choose your sleep study AHI before CPAP. Obviously, this is not a scientific poll

I am new here what is your AHI?
Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
My sleep study AHI was 19, but it fluctuates now from 7-13. How about you?charlambe wrote:I am new here what is your AHI?
Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
what does that mean? is that how many times per hour you stop breathing while sleeping? or what?
Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
The AHI is a combination of apneas "A" (average times you stop breathing for more than 10 seconds in an hour) and hypopneas "H" (average times you have shallow breathing per hour). The "I" stands for index.charlambe wrote:what does that mean? is that how many times per hour you stop breathing while sleeping? or what?
Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
how can I find this info on my machine?
Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
I can't tell what machine you have, but some are capable of displaying data and some aren't. You should have received a copy of the report from your sleep study. This would tell you what your AHI was prior to CPAP and after.charlambe wrote:how can I find this info on my machine?
Re: POLL: What was your sleep study AHI?
Charlambe, the icons for your machine, humidifier and software are not compatible. Please check exactly what you've got and update your profile. Also please use text, as icons necessitate us leaving the forum to see what equipment you've got. Once you have your equipment figured out, I'm sure someone will jump in to answer your questions.charlambe wrote:how can I find this info on my machine?

Mine was 19 and I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. So an AHI can be greater than 91?? I suppose someone with that kind of index would need a cpap 24 hours a day just to stay alive. WOW.

Interesting that at 19 you were diagnosed as severe. I too had a 19, but was told that according to the conventional rating scale I was bordering between mild and moderate. Did your sleep study report actually state that you were severe?NeedSomeAir wrote:Mine was 19 and I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. So an AHI can be greater than 91?? Oh, REM AHI was 72.7 and REM RDI was 77.3. This is under the Respiration section. I was looking at apnea + hypopnea index (AHI) which was 17.0. So which AHI is this poll?
Two doctors told me it was severe. And the report under diagnosis was Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (severe in REM, with O2 desat whatever desat is)
