I read through this thread and didn't find it. What is/are your pressure setting(s)?

I had AHI 1.6 last night. I always have apneas and rarely have hypopneas (was that way during the PSG study also)
BUT I only got 5 hours of sleep last night and I have felt awful today. I just passed my 3 month mile marker and I can say that I can count on one hand the number of days that I felt "great" despite having excellent numbers 99% of the time.

I would have liked to have a more marked improvement myself but not only is OSA a creeper in the damage it does, we also have other issues that affect our bodies. I figure the damage was gradual and the healing has to be gradual also and done in conjunction with our other sleep related issues. I cannot expect the mask and machine to cure the other issues.

So while I am digging out my voodoo doll to put a spell on Spirit, I found this little website that let's us do our own "damage" and put our own spells on someone. Kinda fun, especially when the little guy howls.. I am wondering if that candle up the nose will help with allergies.... Worth a try.....

to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of.

Spirit, I did another one of those "anything"s......you know, to see or feel
if my therapy is working.......just to see what I'm capable of.

96 miles in 6:15'.
1/2 bagel w/cream cheese
3 Heed bottles
3 water bottles
18oz of Hammer gel
1pk fignutons
1 large chocolate chip cookie
6 endurolytes
13mths of cpap therapy.
I have never done a ride like this on so little food,
and so much rest.

I jammed it all day.
I ate up the Monument climb.
Finished w/plenty in the tank, for next time.
Very pleased w/the effort.

The therapy.....is it working.....yea, it's working.

I hope that you and anyone reading this can hear my message.......
I don't know how else to say it......

Don't quit.
You got'a believe.
You got'a persevere.

It will happen.

Please don't give up. Sorry to hear that you are having problems. This is my 15th day using my machine. I guess i'm one of a few who adjusted well to this new way of sleeping. i like my machine and my mask. during the night when i do feel a leak, i just readjust it or completely remove it and then put it back on. this usually take care of the leak. Since I have been using the cpap I can say I feel better than before. i also go to sleep all night except when waking to go to the bathroom, this to has lessen, i use to go 5 times a night, now i go 1 or 2, I do see the difference, i do not choke in my sleep like before. Good luck to you, I don't know what to tell you, maybe change your machine/mask. talk to your doctor or whom ever. BUT DO NOT GIVE UP

Don't give up! I've been doing this for about two months. I started out great. Then, some weeks ago, I started getting this thick sinus crud running down the back of my throat every night and everything went to Hell pretty fast. I am sticking with it, though. Trying new masks, trying different settings for humidity and pressure, trying different sleeping positions. Even if I only improve a teeny bit at a time, it sure beats getting worse a lot at a time!

Mucinex and lots of water thinned mine so it's no longer an issue. Now I just drink a lot of water, 90+ ozs/day

Why stop a therapy that has dropped you breathing interruptions from 33 an hour to 3.3?

That's totally irrational.

No matter how you feel now -- your body was much worse off physically when you stopped breathing ever two minute the on CPAP.

You fatigue may be the result of benzo abuse -- caused by the doctor's who prescribed you Klonopin. It takes a long time to recover from that -- http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/index.htm.

It may be caused by other things.

Are you sure you machine is set up in fixed pressure mode at 8? Are you sure its not minimum 4, maximum 8?

I would set up the machine at minimum = maximum = 8, and drop EPR to 1 or 0. Pressure changes disrupt sleep for some people - if you're one of those, you have to make sure you get stable pressure.

Stopping CPAP won't make you healthier - on the contrary. Except for anger and disappointment at not feeling well with CPAP -- do you have other reasons for stopping?

Spirit,

I have been on CPAP for about 3 months now... yes in texas heat! The one major question I have is how often are you cleaning your mask? I fond I have to clean mask everyday and sometimes once in my sleep. My natural oils make me create leaks. I dont mean take the mask apart clean. Get you some unscented baby wipes and give it a good wipe down. It takes about 1 minute. But when each time you put it on, it is like a new mask

Oh yes, dont give up! For what it is worth, I am like a new man after 3 months!

Good luck!

EriC!

Very good point by Eric.
I found that cleaning the mask seal and my face daily with Dr. Bonner's liquid soap made as major difference -- and its even better than baby wipes for me.

Thanks to each & everyone one of you, for support & Inspiration. Sorry, cannot reply to each posts, but have read every single one. Forum has been tremendous help since, I began my journey.

I discovered the leak problem last night. I used my chin strap around my nasal pillows. Woke up today with 0.00 leaks !!!!!!

Now, I need to find a store that carries Velcro, to wrap around pillows. If anyone had suggestions, that would be wonderful.

I also spent a few hours, reading Our Wisdom section of the forum, located at the very top. Very informative & helpful for all newbies. I suggest all newbies to take time to read this section of the forum.

Thanks again to all, good luck in your journey.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for support. To be honest with you, never cleaned my mask, I washed my face each night prior to bed. But I did clean my mask yesturday, then wiped it off once again with baby wipes prior to sleep. Used a chin strap to secure the nasal pillows. No leaks today 0.00,.

So now, I start cleaning my mask upon wake up.

I've learned alot, and realized cleaning is a daily routine.

Thanks for your helpful tip.
