Mako Card Reader no worky

Post by Pirateghost » Thu Aug 27, 2009 2:53 pm

I have EP 1.8.49
Vista 64 bit

I used the updated driver from Mako.
I set to be automatic.
I deleted old driver.
I put in new driver.
Rebooted several times.

EP still says can't read driver.

Any ideas? Thanks.

My understanding is that when installing a Mako, you don't install its own software -- instead install Encore either Pro or Viewer. But I am a novice at card readers -- just set mine up last week, and it now is working fine.

Have you tried the driver from this site?

Mako drivers and the drivers for reading Respironics smart cards aren't necessarily the same ones. The drivers for the Encore software have been specially/specifically written for it.

Hi,

Try unplugging the card reader and then plug it into a different USB port. Also Connect it directly to a USB port on the computer instead of using a USB hub. I had problems with a USB hub. BTW, I never loaded any driver to get the MAKO DT3500 to work with either Vista 32 or 64 bit. Just Loaded EP and then plugged in the Reader, verified the "Automatic Setting" per other posts and been running since.

Do you actually have EP running in Vista 64 bit? I've been running it in Vista 64 for months but it was a little "tricky to get it going"

I tried several USB ports, no hub ports.

EP is at 64 bit, I replaced that file as required. EP is running fine.

I did download that driver from Maco. I did delete the existing driver in device manager. Installed again pointing to drivers on EP disk.

Reloaded again with drivers from Maco.

Hi,

Just checked my device manager and it reports that the driver that I'm using, and remember that I'm using Vista Ultimate 64 bit, is:

Manufacturer: Maco Technologies, Inc.

Dated: 7/3/2009

File Version: 2.0.0.9

Copyright: Copyright ?2003-2009 Mako Technologies, Inc.

Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatability

(and yes that "?" is correct) don't know why but it is there

I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

I have that same version of driver, just checked.

It still says in a small window in encore pro when I try to download data:

Can't connect to the device.

I get a green light on the reader which eventually turns red.

I just don't know what else to do.

Do you have an extra smart card? If so, try to see if you can read and format the other card. Your original card could be the issue.

If you don't have another card, can you take it to the DME, Sleep Doc or another "Hoser" friend and see if they can read it? It could be an issue with your card reader itself.

On my card reader, I get a green light when I plug it in but then at some point it will turn red. But, that does not seem to make any difference on the ability to read the data. At every active request to read the card the light will turn green if it is reading and then may or may not go back to red. But, eventually it goes red. When I remove the card from the reader the little LED light turns off. If I don't have a card in the reader then the card reader LED light is always off.

Well, this is rather stupid but I'll post it in case someone else runs in to the same problem.

It seems I overlooked the simple button in Encore Pro that is for preferences, smart card reader, USB.

All works fine now.
