I'm thinking it really works!

Post by WhoKnew » Sat Aug 22, 2009 11:59 am

Much better night than previous one with my new Liberty mask. This is the first time in over 2 weeks, since starting CPAP, that I have AHI numbers that are not in the double digits! I was really beginning to think it wasn't going to happen. Last night, I turned off the EPR and here is what resulted.

Leakage 0.02
AHI 7.4
AI 0.5
HI 6.9

I'm ecstatic! I know the number isn't below the magic "5", but considering my AHI's have been anywhere from 17.3 - 26.9 and the AI's from 1.5 - 5.7, never mind those HI numbers, I'm quite convinced that this will work!

I don't mind the new mask either. I had started with a Swift LT for Her, and was getting nowhere quickly.

I also increased my humidity to the fourth setting and it was fine. My mouth wasn't like the Gobi desert and my nose is not hurting either.

My next step is to increase my pressure to 11cm. Should I wait on that, or just do it now?

Get a couple of nites of success under your belt before you challenge yourself again.
Let your body adjust to this then up it if it seems necessary.

Over time, the AHI tends to get lower at whatever pressure you are at. I guess it is your body relaxing and allowing the pressure to do its thing. So I wouldn't change things quickly.

That could very well be, as my numbers the past two nights continue to improve. I'm not going to change anything for a week or so. Many, many thanks to everyone for the support and suggestions. I am finally feeling like I can get more than two things accomplished in a day, and my sense of humour seems to be returning. Now, maybe, I won't be as cranky! I'm sure my DH will be quite happy about that. He always seems to be around when I'm at my worst:(

My new project? Sewing a funky cover for my hose I think...... Plaid???
